Great Food
My husband and I visit Corpus Christi at least once a year. We have enjoyed many meals at Blackbeard's. The mexican food is out of this world and we also love the seafood. Mixed drinks are also very good. We look forward to eating as many meals as possible at Blackbeard's each time we visit.Try Blackbeard's once and you will be hooked. The service is great with very friendly wait staff.    [23 Feb 2001 12:15:48]

Excellent Food, Service & Entertainment
First time in Corpus and this was definitely the right place to visit. The food and service were excellent. Live entertainment brought back fond memories with acquistical songs from the 70's, with artist such as Cat Stevens, Don McClean, etc.    [11 Aug 2003 12:18:47]

Good??
My husband and I have tried this restaurant a couple of times. The waitresses and waiters are slow to get to the table and the tables are to close to each other. Can't find a server when you need one. The food wasn't that great. Drinks are overpriced. A typical tourist hangout. We were not to impressed with the whole dining experience.    [27 Feb 2004 09:34:33]

Fun Food and Grog.
My husband, daughter and I went to Blackbeard's the first night we were in Corpus Christi because it looked like a fun and funky place. We were not disappointed. The seafood was wonderful and the waiter was very friendly.
We went back the second night for dinner as well. The place was hopping, the food and service was just as good as the night before.
The live entertainment was a lot of fun. And soon we found ourselves singing right along.
If we ever get that direction again Blackbeard's will be on the list of places to stop.    [22 Jun 2004 18:48:47]

Not Up to Even the Lowest Standards.
Chicken fajitas with chicken so tough and overcooked you could barely cut it by sawing with a knife. Shrimp fajitas with no taste, as bland as if they had no seasoning at all. Had to ask for sour cream which both entrees were supposed to come with, according to the menu. Had to ask for napkins to supplement the small ones wrapped around our silverware. Sat with empty water glass. Tried to seat us at wretched table in high-traffic area when there was a nice table over in a quiet corner nearby, saving that one for royalty, I guess. Women's bathroom disgustingly located practically in diners' laps, so near to tables and diners that sign warns "Please shut door!" Bathroom commodes hard to flush so sometimes people didn't, ugh. Wouldn't go back there on a bet and can only think the people who love it so must have had really low standards and lots of drinks. Not on the beach by the way.    [28 Dec 2004 20:42:22]

Worst meal of our Texas vacation.
I ordered clam strips & onion rings, my wife had fried shrimp & french fries. The clam strips & fried shrimp were so tough they were barely edible. Onion rings were HUGE but didn't taste very good. Fries were OK (it's hard to mess up fries) but had no salt or seasoning. Waiter was friendly, but not very attentive. Charged 75 cents to refill my coke and $2.50 to substitute onion rings for fries on my meal (though they were only $1.00 different on the menu). I hate to be nickel and dime'd like that!    [02 Jun 2005 20:09:59]

Winter Texan's Blessing
I am seriously offended by the bad reviews posted here, and it's probably the owners of the other Corpus Christi Beach restaurants trying to sabotage their competition. My wife and I have been going to Blackbeards at least 10-20 times a year when we are vacationing and have been vacationing in the CC area for over 10 years now. The food is great, margaritas potent, Bobby Carter's live music, and the staff is just amazing, although we really miss "Jimbo" (he is the best waiter on the planet). However, we just wanted to throw in our two-cents since a couple of the other reviews seemed to be someone's B.S. Just try it once and you'll be hooked. And it's only about 200 feet from the beach.    [25 Sep 2006 18:08:59]

So so and I don't own a restaurant
The beachy, hip atmosphere is great for young people. The waiter...which one? Several tried to help us but it was maddening with the noise and high volume traffic to try to catch anyone's attention. The fish was not good, my shrimp was great, but I expected more for my money. I got to know the people at the next table a little too well, and some woman came begging for an animal shelter or something and looked dishoveled. I didn't think that was appropriate at all. I was told they actually allow her to do it!    [17 Jun 2007 21:53:08]
