Their fried chicken is really good and Meme's Kleen Kitchen has been in Del Rio for a really long time; probably one of the oldest restaurants in the city. The only thing is that the chicken is somewhat greasy at times so sometimes the chicken is really good and not greasy at all, then sometimes it will be. I guess it depends who is making it.

Well it's a good restaurant and best of all you can see the cooks cooking your food because the front of the restaurant is all glass and you can see straight thru and be parked in your car looking into the kitchen.

P.S Only thing is that the cooks mainly speak Spanish but some do speak English.    [26 Apr 2003 16:04:25]

I am Sheri, my grandfather is Armando Vela. I have never seen this site before and I can't wait to tell him. As a child, I have very fond memories at Meme's. One special item is the Double dip fries. They would only make them for me, but at one period of time, them put samples in all the baskets. I love the chicken livers too. One thing I can promise, those women are hard workers. Onion Rings
Not only is the chicken good, no one has mentioned their onion rings. They have the best in town. Huge fresh cut onion slices in a special blended batter, deep fried in the same oil as the chicken to retain all the flavor.
