Good Place for Lunch.
I've been here a few times, and it's always been pretty good. It's built in an old house, so don't expect much for atmosphere. The sign says $3.99 lunch specials, but when you get inside there really is just 1 special for that price.    [11 Mar 2004 09:22:21]

Bari's Is Ok.
The little shanty house they utilize is the atmosphere, and the staff is fairly consistent with its good service. They DO NOT accept credit cards so be prepared for that.    [06 Aug 2005 17:09:40]

Beware.
The wait staff is good. The food is ok. But the big lady that checks you out, she's the owner. She rolled her eyes at me once. I had a coupon that I left on the table. Then I tried to pay with a credit card or debit card. She said...without any kindness in her voice..."We don't take cards.." I calmly said, "I'm sorry, You should really tell someone before they eat." Her response (rudely, I might add).."Well, you should read the door." Yea..it just escaladed from there. Again, she owns the place...so complaints just went in one ear and out the other. I'm never going back. I don't suggest it either.    [26 Aug 2005 21:16:23]

Yes the big lady that checks you out is the big problem with Bari's, and unfortunately the reason why I will not be going back.

They do now take cards, however I was charged twice on mine and my attempt to sort out this problem over the phone the following day turned sour, ending in her telling me to stop bothering her and then hanging up. Enough said!

If you do go there, just hope that everything runs smoothly. The big lady takes no prisoners. I certainly won't be going back, not because of the food or the wait staff, but because I don't want to have to deal with the rude big lady again. Shame, really...    [29 Nov 2006 16:05:19]

The food is very good, almost great for Denton.. The atmosphere is very casual, befitting an Italian restaurant in Europe... And the "big lady" is a laugh a minute with a dry, but uncanny, sense of humor... As a former UNT student, Bari's, which is in walking distance from the school, kept me fed many a day under $8. My favorites are the chicken fettucine alfredo and my roomate and I loved the cheese tortelleni in a pink sauce, very creamy. I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Friendly staff, good food, and reasonable prices. I haven't been to UNT in 5 years and the same lady is there ringing up my bill.    [13 Apr 2007 14:34:27]
