After a long 1 hour wait to be seated we were given chips and salsa (hot but good)but we were not even offered water or drinks of any kind until after 12 full minutes - after the salsa. Would not recommend to visit with small children since they are not set up to accommodate small children. Our server was difficult to understand but was very good and very patient.
The food was excellent but service was slow. The food very good, especially for the price - six adults and two children for $63 and that included a 15% tip. I have eaten at places that charged twice the price but food was not nearly as good. I will visit again but not with the whole family.    [20 Jul 2001 22:43:23]

The best Tex-Mex in the Metroplex
Anamia's has become a favorite Friday night destination for us.
*Yes, it's crowded
*Yes, it's a long wait on weekends, and
*Yes, there are too many screaming and unmonitored children in the restaurant...

But if you can get past that (I recommend a margarita or two) - this is the tastiest place for Tex-Mex. Everything is great - if you are looking for a grilled item, I would recommend the Beef Tacos al Carbon; if you are looking for traditional fare, go for the Mexican dinner. A surprisingly delicious appetizer is the Kelly's Queso - queso, ground beef and guacamole. I also love the Queso con Hongos - jack cheese, poblano peppers, mushrooms and green onions with tortillas.

Prices are nice and low, the only drawback is that some of the dishes do not come with rice and beans, which you have to tack on to the bill. I personally boycott paying for guacamole as a dip (what you pay a couple of bucks for, you can get for free as an accompaniment to some dishes - same size serving).

You sometimes have to be assertive in ordering drinks at the bar, but only because they are so busy. I recommend that the previous reviewer try going during the week - his perception would change drastically, for the better.    [26 Oct 2001 11:30:49]

Best Tex-Mex
Everything is excellent. Fresh, well-prepared. We especially like the Chicken Fajita-Changa. I like the Tamales.

Service is above average. You know the saying: "No one eats there anymore because it's gotten too crowded." Actually, the wait is usually not TOO long and the food is worth a little wait.    [09 Aug 2002 08:48:59]

Great family restaurant - awesome food!!
I have a six year old daughter that absolutely loves Anamia's. My husband and I are frequent customers so I'm very glad she likes the food. The wait can sometimes be long on Friday nights - but it's well worth it & any other good place will also have a long wait. The service is nice although sometimes if they don't bring you something (like water) when you want it...just ask for it!    [18 Apr 2003 02:15:06]

Wonderful Atmosphere! Wonderful Anamia's!
Every time I get by Anamia's I always have The most wonderful Sour Cream Chicken imaginable. The Queso is, to die for, and the tea is always fresh. It is a simple matter of reading the menu all the way through first and then ordering things the way they come. This will eliminate any confusion between our Spanish speaking wait staff, and our not so Spanish speaking clients.    [23 Nov 2003 11:42:26]
