Seafood in the Hills? Oh yeah... Fast and tasty. Get a bowl of pinto beans for starters (Did I mention that the beans are free, as well as, tasty!!). I always get the fried shrimp. [28 Dec 2001 16:59:33]

Wonderful Place The service was great as well as the food. I am not much a catfish person, but tried it anyway....still not much of a catfish person, but love the chicken fried steak and chicken strips. The salad was fresh and very tasty. The live music was also a great touch. [31 Mar 2005 20:02:58]

Local Favorite This restaurant came highly recommended by the locals. The catfish was great and the onion rings were probably the best I have ever had. The portions were big and the prices reasonable. [06 Jun 2006 21:20:51]

Get There Early! They have the best fried catfish/shrimp in town. Their blackened and white grilled fish is wonderful too. If someone in your group doesn't like fish their steaks are to die for; cooked to perfection, flavorful & juicy. [01 Dec 2006 16:48:49]

Catfish Haven in Fredericksburg, TX. Wow! Reading these reviews almost leads me to believe they were written by restaurant staff themselves. Don't waste your time with this place.
I recently stopped there for lunch with my Mom and it was not good, The *free* beans so raved about above are simply another condiment tucked away in a corner on a steam table. Yes, there is fried okra and such, but after it's been sitting there all day? Give me a break!
Restaurant Rule #1: Do not expect good service from a bunch of teenagers with no manager on site. You ain't gonna get it; no matter how badly you would like it.
I also beg to differ with the above recommendations in another way. As a Hill Country native, and having family in Fredericksburg, I know first hand this is not a place sought out by the locals. Poor food & Poor service. (tourist trap) [29 Apr 2007 19:39:19]
