Open-air, on the sea wall, its Cajun-spiced kitchen pulls no punches. Pan-broiled shrimp, barbecued crabs and blackened oysters lead the menu. - CitySearch - suggest change

Crabs and Shrimp This restaurant was calling me. I went to the beach a couple of weeks ago with with my family and a friend and I was VERY pleased. The restaurant was nothing spectacular but the food was delicious. I had a platter of blue crabs, (they were the special that evening) and the fried shrimp. It was perfect. And I was VERY pleased with the child's plate. They gave them a plate that contained more than fries, hush puppies and popcorn. My 5 y/o loves shrimp and they served it up. I can't wait to get back. Benno's My friend wanted to go, so I went with him. I don't even like seafood. it wasn't too bad. I especially enjoyed the wall with the bright green forest scene wallpaper. The shrimp po-boy wasn't as great as Nate's West End though. My friend said it was notorious for slow service, but we weren't in a hurry. [09 Nov 2003 18:17:16]

Tourist Heaven Those of us from Louisiana know what real cajun cooking is - spices (plural) and not just cayenne pepper alone. They have the best a/c on the island so if it is summer (in Texas that is May through October) make a pit stop to get a cold drink, cool off, and light your tongue on fire to entertain the kids. Sit out side if you like bird crap. Most restaurants in Galveston string up fishing line outdoors to keep the seagulls away. Not Bennos. They like them birds. There bird crap all over the place, on the deck, on the seats, on the tables, don't look up or it might be in your eye too. [24 May 2004 14:38:38]

Are We There Yet? I LOVE Benno's crab. I like it fried, boiled, Cajun, or however they're serving it that day. I get my little wooden mallet and whack the heck out of those little devils. YUMMY! [05 Aug 2006 09:59:38]
