Down home cooking The best Mexican food on the planet! 24hr. service makes this an enjoyable dining experience at any hour. Fine service from a tremendous staff and family. [14 Aug 2002 01:09:19]

this is a true story IN 1978, some of my rowdy friends and I were heavily intoxicated en route from Austin to the Mexican border for a hunting and partying weekend. I remember pulling into George West with my buddies telling me this place had great food. I remember it being packed with what seemed to be a whole family working the joint. They even had a couple of little girls working as waitresses. I also remember the great enchiladas and the fresh made salsa and tostadas, quite perfect to go with the continuos beer guzzling our gullets! Flash forward 24 years to my second trip through George West. My foggy memory serves up some not so flattering nostalgia while a weathered blonde serves up the fresh salsa and chips. When I ordered, I asked her how long this restaurant had been here, obviously not trusting my foggy memory. She replied, "I'm not sure, but at least 24 years. That's when I started working here as a little girl in early 1978! [21 Jan 2003 03:02:28]

Remembering Back When Comedor, wow, that brings back memories, I remember my dad every Saturday and Sunday morning going for those delicious doughnuts and cupcakes that I have to say I have never been able to find since I moved from George west. Let’s not forget the best plate of all a chicken fried steak plate that was the bomb. I haven’t been in George West in some time but when I do visit again that’s the first restaurant I plan to eat at. Thank you to the owners of Comedor for giving me wonderful memories from back home in George West. [06 Jan 2005 13:36:33]

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE. The owners have really let it go downhill. The place was disgustingly dirty and in bad need of repair. The food is no longer what it used to be. [12 Feb 2006 14:40:28]

THE GREATEST RESTO BAR IN GW I won´t ever forget the Alanizes and this wonderful place. For many decades they have offered the best service and food to this beautiful town. I remember TEO one of the bakers, a friend, a genius!. If someone in GW read this text, don´t forget that NICO from Argentina is always there. All my love to THE COMEDOR Family! Special to DELIA !!!!! [26 Dec 2006 15:25:52]
