NOT RECOMMENDED FOR STEAK! If you are a fan of steak dinners, don't try the rib eye at this Glen Rose eating establishment! You will be disappointed. To start off, the ribeye dinner goes for $19.95 (not a cheap meal, by any stretch), and includes only a meager salad bar (very Spartan selection) with the entree. On the menu, the category labeled "Steaks" should actually read "Steak" in the singular. Ribeye is the only cut served, the remaining "steaks" are of the chicken fried variety or steakburger. No rolls were served or offered. In light of the availability of crackers, it appeared that the proliferation of saltines were this establishment's answer to dinner rolls. During my visit, the lettuce looked a little bit past it's prime and the Thousand Island dressing tasted a bit sour. Was it curdled or made with yogurt? I was afraid to ask. After my initial order was made, I was informed by the waitress that they "had no baked potatoes." What, no baked potatoes on a Friday night? Did someone forget to run to the store for supplies? I reluctantly substituted French Fries, but in hindsight ... I should have cancelled my order right there and then. When my "rib eye" steak was finally served after what seemed like an eternity (I was informed the first steak of the night always takes a little bit longer), I found that my substandard slab of beef was laced with gristle around most of the cut, leaving only a few square inches of edible meat. The portion that could be eaten was cooked as ordered, but the gristle-laden periphery was near raw and completely unappetizing. Being famished from a lack of lunch or breakfast, I consumed what I could, left a tip and paid my bill--beating a hasty retreat to my car and back onto the highway in search of a better meal.
