Good, New Chinese Buffet What Greenville lacks as of this writing is a good Chinese take out. You know, those small hole-in-the-wall dives that have the hottest, freshest, tastiest Chinese Food in the USA.
Chinese Grand Buffet is not one of those places. It's justt another Chinese Buffet (the 3rd in Greenville; 4th Chinese place altogether). Maybe we're trying to tie the number of Mexican restaurants in town.
Of the three Chinese Buffets in town, Grand Buffet has some offerings that the others don't. First, the atmosphere is the nicest in town. A beautiful renovation of the old Luby's gives this restaurant a feeling that is more reminicent of San Francisco though, as opposed to Shanghai. Very nice, but not Chinese. Grand Buffet also offers a bit more seafood on the line. This combination equals the most expensive Chinese lunch in Greenville. Almost as expensive as Ryan's.
Overall, I'd recommend it. I didn't find anything that I particularly disliked, though the fried crab-in-shell was a bit difficult to eat.
If you're looking for a bargain, though, there are two others that would love your business. [08 Sep 2004 08:53:47]

I went to the buffet with friends, the name is now East Rock Buffet, but the food is Chinese, or I would call it Cantonese. The food was fresh, hot, and prepared in very good taste. I liked especially the curried dishes, which included a fine noodle which I recommend everyone try, quite delicious and a mild curry. [24 Mar 2006 18:11:16]

Not Very Good Have gone there on several occasions; lunch a better gamble than dinner. Last occasion for dinner, what food there was on the buffet was limited and looked as if it had been out for several hours. Not fresh looking at all and gell'ed over. Choose not to eat but wife and mother inlaw choked down a little since they were very hungry and declared it barely edible. When went to pay, cashier attempted to charge me and blew off comments about lack of food on buffet line or quality. Will not go back or recommend. [05 Dec 2006 17:57:05]
