Excellent Italian restaurant This is one of the best Italian restaurants in the DFW area! The entrance is at street level, but the dining room is below-ground -- accessible either by elevator or stairs. The ambiance is often enhanced on weekends by a talented piano player who plays loudly enough to be heard but not loudly enough to intrude on your dinner. The booths are romantic if you're looking for an intimate dinner. There are three dining rooms, one of which can be used for private parties and one of which has a view into the grill area for people who like to see their food being prepared. The menu has lots of options from different parts of Italy, including perhaps more seafood options than most Italian restaurants -- all their food is outstanding! Don't forget to ask about desserts, but if you want a souffle, be sure to order it when you order dinner since they take about 45 minutes to make .... The owner is usually on-site and oftens visits diners, although unobtrusively -- he's not a "pest" by any means. (It's nice to be recognized if you go back more than once.) There is no-charge valet parking -- they'll have your car ready by the time you reach the front door. Within an easy 1/2 block walk of the Omni Mandalay Hotel. Well worth the visit. northern italian cuisine only I prefer southern Italian, but if you like northern Italian cuisine, this IS the spot. Sylvano zenetti takes pride in his place & so does his staff. The big brass elevator takes you down to the restaurant while the bar is upstairs. It is elegant & quaint & romantic & if you have someone to impress, take them to cipriani's. It is a Las Colinas experience & romance is in the air going up or going down. [27 Jan 2005 14:13:14]
