Black Eyed Pea restaurant
This use to be one of our familys favorite restaurants until all the changes in salads , foods, etc.
It seems that we are not the only ones,
because every time we go now the restaurant is always empty.
Our last two visits were very disappointing and you lost two customers who considered Black eye Pea as their favorite restaurant at one time.    [05 Mar 2002 14:51:48]

Why did you Change
My husband and I have been extremely disappointed that you changed your atmosphere from family oriented to a bar. We are not interested in frequenting a bar on Sunday or any other day. In the past we have eaten at your restaurant on the average of 3 times a week. The food has changed dramatically too.    [12 Mar 2002 23:10:49]

Not as good as is used to be
Black Eyed Pea used to be my favorite restaurant. The food changes are ok but not great. We experience terrible service at Houston/Katy/Sugarland locations. There have been times that we have left and eaten at Chili's because we had to wait at the front door for so long. Often, BEP seems either understaffed or they are just not effecient. Many of the dishes are still good so we continue to return to the restaurant despite the service but it's getting to the point that the food just isn't good enough to put up with it. Pretty Consistent
I have always had a good experience with the service and food at Black Eyed Pea. Even when they Changed the salads I was able to get the old one because I did not like the new one.
The staff treat you as if you are in a
very expensive restaurant. But for the food the prices are unbeatable. I went there tonight and they were very crowded, the service was a little slower than normal but the waitress was great. I also think the food is great.    [15 Jun 2002 23:51:26]

Need better service
I still like the food, but the service in the Katy restaurant is not very good. After being seated, I waited with my child for over 15 minutes for someone to come and take our drink order. When we didn't receive any service, we finally left. Now, I only eat there if I am ordering for take-out.    [22 Jul 2002 14:36:15]

I don't like the new food!
Blackeyed Pea used to be one of my favorite restaurants too,in fact,I used to go there almost every week. But now I hardly ever go there at all anymore. I don't know if they are trying to cut back on cost or whatever. But overall their food is just not nearly as good as it used to be. For instance,their french fries used to be about my favorite now they just make these little string bean french fries that stick together some of the fast food french fries taster better if you ask me. Also,I used to just love the sourdough bread they used on their sandwiches now I think they use plain old Mrs.Bairds[not that I have anything against Mrs Bairds but if I want to get that I can just go down to the grocery store. Overall,I am just very dissapointed in the way the blackeyed pea restaurant food has tasted over the last few years.    [19 Sep 2002 16:34:46]

Was awsome,then bad, now good
They were the greatest back in '99-01 but something happened. The salad was the absolute worst salad I have ever eaten. I swore I was grazing the back fields like a cow with that recipe. I too noticed that they are real empty now and a few shut down. It seems though that they are going back to the way they once were. The salads have gotten better but still are not even close to the formers. The salmon is still great and the breads can not be beat. The rice and beans are great but I hate that style green beans. The service is here and there. Looks as though they may be trying to regain ground though.    [15 Nov 2002 11:19:26]

Used to Like Black Eye Pea

Black Eyed Pea
I enjoy the Black Eyed Pea Restaurant...it is more like the home type cooking I am used to eating...Love the Yellow Squash recipe...wonder if I could get the recipe???
