A stunning \"eatertainment\" operation with some eye-popping aquatic displays; despite the gimmicky nature of the place, the food is surprisingly good. - CitySearch - suggest change

Outstanding
We have eaten here several times since its opening. Food is always above average. Great deserts. Service is sometimes a bit slow but the aquarium will entertain anyone. A must for the kids.    [01 Aug 2001 16:15:53]

Worth it for the fish in the Aquaria
Exceptional aquarium display. Food is very good too. All this is going to cost you though. Plan on at least $50-$60 for two for a good meal at dinner. (You could be cheap, but that misses the point.)    [09 May 2002 12:10:56]

THE STAFF IS WONDERFUL. THE BEST SEA FOOD IN KEMAH. IT'S A GREAT PLACE FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO EAT SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT. IT'S ALSO A GREAT PLACE TO TAKE THE KIDS.    [26 Oct 2002 01:01:58]

Tanks and Food
Sunday, August 3rd, 2003.
Party of two, came to enjoy the Blessing of the Fleet.
The Aquarium presented outward appeal.
Dark blue green tinted windows, as if it were portals to an undersea world in the Caribbean.
We were waiting outside on it's coral reef, which was shaded and shaped to make comfortable chairs, as people started to line up waiting for the 11:00 opening time.
Looking through the dark tinted glass doors, we could see this fasinating tall aquarium with fish seeming like they were trying to get a better look at us.
When the doors opened, we entered into a small very dark room, an elevator to the left for those unable to take the stairs.
Ahead of us is the winding staircase that embraced this aquarium.
We were seated where we could view the Huge main fish tank, 3 other small tanks, and the board walk below.
Our Waitress was friendly and down to earth.
She had her script perfectly memorized.
Our appetizer came quickly, a crab and shrimp dip.
the main entree was served perfectly in time.
We watched an entertaining feeding of the fish, by a diver, in the main tank.
He made sure to coax the rays up the glass so we could watch them eat.
The children seemed amazed.
I enjoyed it completely.
The food was great, perhaps the spices on the shrimp were a touch too much, but the rest of the
Captains Platter (broiled)was worth the price.
Desert was fantastic, they don't scrimp on size.
I recommend this to be a top family restaurant.    [06 Aug 2003 09:55:30]

Better visually
The Aquarium is a great place to go when you have out of town guests who are not discriminating "foodies". 70% of the restaurant's appeal lies in its ambience. Little kids love watching the fish swim through the room, and the staff encourages diners to walk through and view the different displays. I have eaten there now about four times and I can say that athough the food is OK, it is definitely NOT a good value in the Kemah/Clear Lake area. Nothing special... like my Fish Ponchatrain that I had at one of the "competitors" yesterday. That place had a smaller fish tank and much better food for about the same $$$. If you go to this restaurant expecting much more than standard franchise faire, you will be disappointed. If you want to pay for the entertainment aspect, you will be pleased.    [03 Apr 2006 22:12:03]
