Great Steak Go with an appetite for excellent steak. We have eaten there several times and never leave unhappy or unsatisfied. We hosted our son's wedding rehearsal dinner and were extremely pleased with the price to serve a large group. [18 Aug 2001 14:42:56]

More than you can eat! Biggest steak I have ever seen! People come from all over the state to eat here. They even have an airstrip! Remember a friend and myself riding motorcycles from Abilene in the mid 70's just to eat there. Great piece of Texas! [18 Mar 2002 14:41:11]

A meal and a show! I was eating there last week and had a great time with the server. She and a fellow server were joking around and dancing. They didn't think anyone was watching, and they let loose. Anyplace where people can have so much fun working has my vote. [29 Sep 2002 22:27:52]

authentic Texas steakhouse I visited Lowake Steakhouse while deer hunting at a nearby lease. Up until now, there had never been a steak placed before me that I could not finish. My steak was perfectly cooked and had a flavor that will keep me waiting anxiously until next year when I can get back there. [20 Jan 2003 11:49:43]

Awesome Steak A bunch of us went fishing at Lake Ivie one year and one of the guys said "let's go get a steak" And I thought yeah right. We went there and ate, and left very satisfied. Awesome steak, great flavor, you will taste forever. No better place in all of Texas! [26 Feb 2003 13:41:29]

My wife and I have been going to the Lowake Steak House siince before she became my wife and we have been married for 39 years. I have not found another steak house that comes close for this type of steak. The KC steak has no equal. [28 Jul 2003 18:41:39]

I've made many a trip Back to my favorite Steakhouse and I don't care one bit that it's a 180mi ta git there... Best darn Steaks in this great state... God Bless Texas!! [21 Nov 2003 05:58:26]

The Best Steak There is Period!! I make an annual trip down to Miles Texas for a family reunion. One of the first things I say is "When we going to Lowake?" First time I remember going was back in 1969 with my Grandpa. Now it's every chance I get. During the unfortunate circumstances of 9/11 I was in Miles with no way home. If we we're at Lowake, there was some scraps in the fridge at my Uncle Terry's place. If you get the chance, and don't treat yourself to this little bit of heaven, you've missed out! Lowake Steakhouse---The second stage of a rocket. I've read the many raves about Lowake Steakhouse and they are right. I have eaten there for years and the steaks and serve would be hard to beat.
However, it all began more than 29 years ago as reported in the San Angelo Standard Times back in June 03. The name has been changed from what it was originally and the location has been moved a bit but the reputation of the best steakhouse in Texas goes back to at least the early 1950s and maybe before that. In 1950 I lived in Abilene and a group of us frequenty went to Lowake where the restaurant was composed of several old houses put together. You almost needed a map to find your way around in there. The steaks were so large that often they hung over the ends of the platter. They were good back then and they are still great. It is true that there was a landing strip back then also.
This is not meant to take anything away from the present owner but to give credit where it is due. The launching pad for Lowake Steakhouse was poured long before the present restaurant existed. I can name a number of people to attest to that because they were in the group that ate there in 1950.
I strongly recommend that if a person has never been to Lowake Steakhouse you better get on down there. You won't find a better steak in the State of Texas. [17 Dec 2003 22:14:50]
