The Ultimate Texas Cafe Every evening and at noon on Sunday, the lines stretch out the door and onto the parking lot and are filled with repeat customers who can't wait to get at John and Belinda's hearty home cooking and outstanding pies. The Bluebonnet is known far and wide, and you can sometimes find a Governor (George W. Bush was seen there in his Austin days) who has sneaked out of Austin to enjoy the Bluebonnet's fare. The Bluebonnet is the best place in town to find out what's going on in the area. And there is not need to remove your cowboy hat when dining! [05 Feb 2006 15:53:43]

World's Best Chicken Fried Steak If you want to experience true Texas chicken fried steak, go no farther that Blue Bonnet Cafe. As a native Texasan I can attest to this. The place is generally unassuming and you will probably have to wait for a table, but it is so worth it. Reasonable prices, as well. Every time we are in the Hill Country, we make a stop here. Don't Get It - Very Average cafe The good: Sevice was decent, CF Steak and gravy was very good. Cream Pies were good.
The bad: Mashed potates were instant and had little, if any, seasoning - buttered spinach was "fresh" out of a can with no seasoning - Green beans were canned (at least they were simmered with a little bacon to add a flavoring) rools and corbread were left over from lunch - the cornbread was dried out and flavorless - salads were lukewarm - pecan pie was lousy.
A very average dining experience - certainly not worth of the legendary reputation the cafe has. I mean how hard is it to peel some potatoes or buy some fresh spinach or green beans?? Next time I go through Marble Falls I'll go across the street and have a burger at one of the restaurants with the beautiful view overlooking the Colorado River [02 Aug 2007 17:12:56]
