Great Food We were passing thru Marshall and stopped to eat at the Jalapeno Tree and I thought it was the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. We came back thru the next day and stopped again. GREAT Fajitas. I live in Red Oak Texas and would love to have a Jalapeno Tree here. [15 Mar 2004 09:38:52]

Should've gone down the street to El Chico We had problems with service, food and cleanliness. We were seated promptly, but it was about 15 minutes before anyone took our drink orders, then another 10 or 15 minutes before we received some of our drinks and our chips. Our server was about to rush off to take drinks to another table and get the rest of our drinks, but we asked her to please go ahead and get our food order first, so she did. About 25 minutes later, our server brought out the food, with help from another employee. The appetizer that comes with the John Ritter plate was not brought as an appetizer, but right along with the main dish. Since no one had picked up our empy chip bowls/plates, the servers had no place to put our entrees, so we moved a bunch of dishes out of the way ourselves. Three of the six plates were cold. We let our very small children go ahead and eat the food cold, but this was not appetizing for an adult. There was no one around to tell about the cold plates, and it was several minutes before our server came by. Since we had already been there an hour, my husband did not feel like waiting for another plate, so he ended up with no entree. The server asked the manager to take my husband's meal off our check, so the manager came by just for a second to let us know that she had done that, then left before we had a chance to say anything. The server was apologetic, but we could not figure out why everything was taking so long, since the restaurant was only about half full of customers. In addition to the problems above, I also felt the side order of guacamole (also ordered as an appetizer but brought out with the meal ) was overpriced at $3.49 for a tablespoon-size portion (The huge lettuce leaf took up most of the bowl). Also, cleanliness was a problem: The first high chair we got for the baby still had half-eaten chips in it from the previous user. My husband noticed piles of toilet paper in the floor of the men's restroom, some of which appeared to have been used, as well as a dirty ring in the toilet. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend, but we will not be returning. [10 Jan 2005 07:14:27]
