Cooper's in Mason Although this is the *original* Cooper's BBQ; it is *not* the one that continually wins the #1 ranking in both Texas Highways and Texas Monthly magazines. THAT Cooper's BBQ is located in Llano and is well worth the drive. It was relocated to Llano by the original owner; and as far as I know he sold the Mason outlet to a family member.
I honestly can't say much good about the quality of Cooper's BBQ in Mason on my last visit. The one you're looking for is in Llano due east of here.
To be fair, it could have been just a bad day for them. [20 Apr 2007 02:08:10]

Reliving The Past Being raised in Dallas, we hunted for years just out of Mason and I can remember always stopping at Cooper's to eat and visiting with George. Today I live in southern Michigan and just recently visted Mason again after almost 25 years and the food, atmosphere, and staff were GREAT. Guy's keep up the good work and remember it takes a TEXAN to appreciate a TEXAN. [26 Sep 2007 08:55:53]
