Description

The Blue Aquarium Restaurant, with its new Blue Bar, has transformed from just a surf-and-turf eatery located in a 10th Street strip plaza to an all-day and night establishment. The new Blue Aquarium, at 3300 N. McColl, has two floors and holds about 300 people. The restaurant doubled its size and is located in the brand new multicolored plaza called The District on McColl Road, just south of Nolana Avenue.

Excellent choice to eat
This restaurant has some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted. It looks marvelous compared to others, and the staff is amazing.    [06 Nov 2003 19:05:05]

A great place for business meeting if the piano isn't on!
The salmon with capers is excellent and the creme brulee is beyond words. If you don't like fruit and whipped creme on top your creme brulee, must mention when you order.    [15 Mar 2004 11:43:26]

BEST FOOD EVER (NOT EVEN NEW YORK)
This restaurant has the best food I have ever tasted in my life. I have traveled around the world and this is the best food. Not even a New York restaurant of the same type has this food and service.    [23 Apr 2004 21:43:44]

The food and ambiance were terrific...It is about time McAllen gets something other than fast food..
The service was also up to par.    [19 Feb 2005 15:08:40]

We are sorry we tried this restaurant...
Where do I begin...it was a Thursday night and we were the only table in the entire place all night (that should have been our first clue). Other reviews on this site talk about salmon & stuffed redfish...that must be the old menu before they moved. New menu = lobster bisque that had a gravy consistency; 10 or so different shrimp dishes at $20 a plate with overcooked, tasteless shrimp (you could do better at Red Lobster; one of the dishes had a sauce that was very mayo based...how cheap!); a few pasta choices on average of $16 a plate with mushy pasta (you could do better at Olive Garden); a few steak choices at prices around $35+, which is too high for this type of restaurant. Keep in mind that anything else you want such a salad or sides like potatoes or veggies are all al a carte (around $5+ each and not big enough to share...even though they told you they were). You will easily walk out of there at $50 per person without ordering appetizers & even getting the cheaper menu items! Our dinner was a third cheaper at the Santa Fe Steakhouse & the food was 100% superior to the Blue Aquarium. They have a lot of work to do if the want to keep their reputation of an upscale restaurant. We were very disappointed.    [19 Oct 2007 10:13:56]
