What if you are handicapped with a service animal?
You may want to think twice. The food is delicious but at the cost of being acousted at the door when you enter the restaurant and a scene created in front of all the customers is extremely humiliating and much uncalled for.
I had eaten at this restaurant just prior to moving to Nederland. The food is delicious, esp the sushi bar. I love Chinese and Japanese cuisine. However, my visit on Easter Sunday with an out of town friend was far from pleasant.
The young gal who caused the scene told me I had to leave my "dog" in the car or sit at a table she designated and let my friend prepare my plate of food. Her argument was that ONE customer had complained and they (meaning the establishment owners and employees) had to consider the other customers.
Before leaving the restaruant a customer came to our table and told us how personally hurt he felt for us, esp for me. The discussion continued. I will be seeking legal advice (ADA) on these issues. They did not turn me away provided I abided by THEIR stipulations. They refused me to serve myself like the other customers were allowed. AND humiliated me in front of dozens of customers who were present in the restaurant plus the scene was what welcomed customers as they entered the restaurant.
For the food I give an A+ but for the service I give a zero. I ride a motorized scooter and have a small service dog who rides on the scooter with me and sits under the table when I eat.
The wait staff were pleasant. It was the management who was rude, discourteaous and created the scene.    [27 Mar 2005 23:25:43]

Great Buffet, Nice people
Everytime I visit my parents, I have to stop by Grand Buffet. It beats any buffet here in Austin. The people are very friendly and nice as well.    [07 Jun 2007 16:42:41]
