What Happened To Sartin's ???????????????
My husband and I have eaten at Sartin's for years. His favorite dish is the BBQ crabs every year for his birthday that is part of his present a plate of BBQ crabs. We dined there tonite 9-12-03. To our horror I ordered broiled shrimp and steamed veggies. There was shrimp viens broken and smeared all over the shrimp. Lost my appetite looking at it. The waitress offered to send it back I said no trying to be polite and had no appetite anyway after looking at that shrimp poop smeared all over my dinner.My husbands BBQ crabs were OVER SEASONED making them to salty NOT well seasoned he ate one then told a waitress who asked, How is everything?Her response was OH and walked off.We would have left then but our son was with us and had the seafood platter which was ok but the crab was like my husbands BLACK with TO MUCH SEASONING. Now we like spicy and well seasoned food, we have the hottest peppers in the world growing in our garden and we cook with them EVERY DAY. As we left I walked up to a lady that looked like she was in charge and told her our complaint with the food. As my husband was paying for it.Her reply was tell the lady up front. She could see we had not eaten the food. I mentioned it when I walked up to my husband who was paying and getting no decent customer service with our complaint. The lady up front had NO GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WANTED TO ARGUE HE PAID AND LEFT. Telling me WE WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. I decided to go back in and ask for our leftover food so I could bring it back on Monday to complain to the person in charge as advised by the INEXPERIENCED person in charge. When I went in to the restaurant and asked for our uneaten food to be boxed up, her reply was go tell the little boy clearing tables he probably threw it away. Then I continued to complain she never budged and argued back constantly called the waitress in the purple shirt to ask her if we said anything the waitress said no when I told her that my husband did say the crabs were not edible she said I must not of heard him. Then I told the lady I thought this was horrible being trated like this for we had eaten at Sartins for years,ever since it was in Sabine Pass she said different people than then I said Well we have eaten here for years her reply how many years have we been here. I said since you have been in Nederland at the hotel and back again. She blew me off and acted like this was our first time at Sartins, and turned and asked a lady waiting to pay standing by me,How was your crabs? the lady snickered and said just great they are always seasoned while giving me a dirty look. Well you know what I know that already that's why my husband likes them. But these he had and I know they are not cooked in ONE BATCH were over seasoned and NASTY. After the other lady said her's were fine I replied that I had noticed that the other tables had normal looking crabs not so coated in season that you could not see the shell at all. So what was her point by bringing in another customer to prove her point,in front of me obviously they are not cooked in the same batch!! I did get the food that was taken out of the trash and told to bring in Monday. And there is nothing that I could do. If the owner of this restaurant condones this kind of customer service from the staff working there and the horrible product of the food this is a sad day. I may as well go eat in the middle of Port Arthur for this kind of attitude from the working staff. I have never in my Life seen this kind of conduct from someone in a so called DECENT Restraunt, She even brought up the fact that we asked for smoking section when we came in. No, we had not eaten there since it burned and thought there still was one. Normally we order take out. And this had nothing to do with our complaint. She tried to say it was. HOW LAME on her part. Not just the negative quality of the food after the way the lady up front acted We will NEVER eat at this establishment again.    [13 Sep 2003 00:04:20]

Hello--I am very sorry that someone had to experience this at my restaurant. I was never told about this by the customer so I could not take care of it when it happened. I did send the customer a gift card and a explanation of the situation and that I was never told about her being treated the way she was, I hoped that she would come and give us another try. Sartin's Is Simply The Best!!!
Sartins has the best BBQ Crabs in Texas and Louisiana! I have been a patron for 20+ years!

Although I now live in Houston, I travel to Ned about every other month just for the BBQ Crabs!

Please let me know when you open again.

Ps. For the neg review posted above- EVERY restaurant has a bad day from time to time. It is obvious you have had great experiences there year after year celebrating your husband's birthday, but you chose not to post those, only the one neg experience! I am sure if given the chance, Sartin's would have made the situation right (you admit they offered) but you chose to take the low road and post neg feedback.
