Worth Getting off the Interstate
Large portions of excellent food. Efficient, friendly service. The salads and the soup were far above average. The chicken-fried steak filled the plate and had a good smoky taste like it had been partially grilled.    [12 Aug 2003 00:52:21]

A Recommended Stop.
This is a charming little restaurant, with an inviting exterior and easy on/off I-10 access. Well run and very clean, the consistent quality of food, service, and comfortable atmosphere provide a nice break from driving one of the most dangerous stretches of Interstate hwy in the nation.

Pleasant Evening Stop.
In April 2006 my wife and I were on a trip from Laleland Fl to Phoenix. We were heading to Ft Stockton for the night's stop. Around dinner/supper time we pulled off I-10 for gas and I saw the sign "The Cafe Next Door. We decided to go in. Man, we are glad we did. What lucky stop. This is the best reataurant of its kind I have ever been in. We are from a small town and have traveled much of the US.I saw the Chicken Fried Steak(which I dearly love)on the menu and ask the waitress if it was good. She said "Honey it is so good you will never have it anywhere else." And she was right it was the best I ever had - although I still have Chicken Fried Steak. But if you are ever on I-10 near Ozona Tx you must get off and enjoy The Cafe Next Door.    [20 Jan 2008 23:11:17]

Very Good
I stopped by for breakfast and found the menu very limited (not a bad thing). The coffee was kind of weak. The waitress (there was only one) was very friendly and capable. I got the steak and two egg breakfast, and a side of gravy to go with my biscuits. Wow, what a way to start the day.
