Great Food
I have to say, that I have been many places, but here in Port Aransas Tx at Castaways, their food is great....
The service was real nice, and they have a smoke free building.
We will go back there again and again. We took our own fish in and they cooked it for us.    [19 Feb 2002 21:39:18]

Castaways (disaster)
Terrible, terrible experience. There was a 2 hour wait, the waiter came intermittently, my medium-rare "prime" steak was very well-done, which is a crime for that grade of meat. I have to wonder if they were serving up meat past its due date. The lobster tasted good, but word of advice: ask what "market price" is FIRST! Waiter was not very apologetic over the experience, and to top it off, my entire dinner party got food poisoning, and that was our only meal of the day! I will never go back there again. It really was the worst experience in a restaurant I ever had (not the worst service or food, but considering how bad things were + the outrageous price, Castaways runs away with the "win")    [04 Jun 2004 13:39:14]

Very Poor
Notice the date on the first review. Back in 2002 it was a fine place to eat but the
owner (Danny) showed less and less interest in the place. It shows in the quality of the food, like no one in the kitchen cares what they do to good food.

Nope, nope, nope!
I'm always amazed that restaurants like this are able to survive for any length of time. I guess there enough "new" tourists every year to fall into their overpriced trap. Average food - "couldn't care less" service - High prices and ridiculously small portions.    [26 Jul 2007 21:36:51]
