Best Sweet Tea in this area! I LOVE iced tea... wait, let me rephrase that... I LOVE Sweet Tea! Especially in East Texas... and Judy's is the best I've found in the 3 county area.
And after living in London, England for the last seven months, you'd think I would get all the best tea available... but even in the land of Tea Snobs, there is very little, if any ICED tea to be had. To get my fix abroad, I've had to teach people how to make it in the pubs and restaurants I found myself frequenting.
I couldn't wait to get back to Texas and enjoy a glass of Judy's East Texas Sweet Tea, especially on Friday nights, when she pulls out all the stops and hosts a mouth-watering, all-you-can-eat fried catfish, peel-and-eat and fried shrimp dinner, with all the fixins... which is I guess the real reason I'm really writing this review... (as its fresh on my mind from having it just three nights ago).
Ordering off the menu is just as good, too, from the HUGE fried-chicken salad, juicy cheeseburgers you need two hands to eat (order them with home made onion rings!), to a tender chicken-fried steak that barely fits on the plate. I won't even get into the breakfast.
The other part of the building is a country store that sells local, fresh and seasonal vegetables throughout most of the year.
If you're looking for delicious, down-home, country cooking, in a non-pretentious, friendly atmosphere, this is the place. Tell them Steve from Frankston sent ya! [30 Jan 2006 18:31:02]
