I will never go back there. Their food is tv dinner at best and get this - they charge you for each and every refill on soft drinks. They bring you a kiddie cup and ask if you want a refill. Of course! Not even halfway through dinner and we're out of drink! They never mentioned that they charge.
We get our ticket and go to pay and realize that the two of us were charged for 5 or 6 drinks. I asked the lady at the register (apparently the owner's daughter or something) if they charge for refills. She wouldn't even look at me and said, 'yep! we sure do!' and snatched the ticket out of my hand. Unbelievable! My husband and I refuse to go back there. It's not good and the people there are incredibly rude!!!! [12 Oct 2002 14:50:02]

It must be a different L. Trevino's The other person reviewing L. Trevino's must be speaking of somewhere else, or the owner of another Mexican Restaurant in the area trying to bash their competitor. My husband and I live in Rockwall and eat at L. Trevino's at least once a week. They have "never" charged an additional amount for refills on tea or soft drinks and the size of the drink is a regular size just as you would receive at any restaurant. We have never been overcharged, nor has anyone at the restaurant ever been rude to us. Their food is very good and we have never had a problem. When we can't make it to the restaurant, we order carry out. [16 Oct 2002 16:18:17]

Average is what Average does Split reviews, so who to believe? Neither.
L Trevino's is an average Mexican restaurant. That is all. Nothing really outstanding, although nothing terribly offensive. It's a little pricier than it should be considering the cuisine is rather generic Tex-Mex.
The drinks are indeed small. The glasses might pass muster in say, Philadelphia, but this is Texas for crying out loud!

My first pick for Mexican food! I've eaten at Trevino's a hundred times and the food has always been the best Mexican around. Probably closer to Mexican than Tex-Mex, which would explain the mixed reviews. If you are looking for something like On the Border or El Chico you won't find it here. Great homemade hot sauce, not a jar of Pace, and I love their guacamole - there is actually avocado in it, not just onions. The Chile Relleno and the Carne Guisada are our family's favorites.
The atmosphere is not the most exciting, but the Rockwall locals seem to enjoy themselves. The prices are pretty reasonable for all the food you get - you don't leave hungry! - and I've never been charged for refills. [06 Jun 2005 19:49:59]

You don't stay in business: You can't stay in business as long as they have with poor service or bad food. I have been eating at Trevino's for 15 years now. Very nice people and good food. I don't even live in the Rockwall area, but we will make it out to Rockwall for Trevino's. [16 Nov 2006 14:19:09]

Great Tex Mex & Seafood, Beef, Chicken This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant in the Dallas area. There is a choice of really good Tex Mex and some very good seafood, beef, chicken, & pork dishes done Mexico City style. Wonderful refried beans and guacamole. The breast of chicken is the best I have had at any Mexican restaurant. Family owned. [01 Feb 2007 14:11:33]

A nice place! I like L. Trevino's... The only thing is every time we go our chips are so stale... I wonder is anyone else has gotten stale chips... It has happened twice in one month... I'll go back cause I see they now have breakfast. [23 Jul 2007 18:16:16]

Stale chips The food at L. Trevinos is mediocre, and a bit overpriced unless you go for lunch. I agree with the other poster about the stale chips. EVERY time I have been there the chips have been stale. In fact I will not be returning there to eat again, because I love chips and salsa, and the stale chips just ruin it for me!
