LEFTOVER CRAWFISH On May 9, 2002 I happened to be in the Loop 410 and Marbach area and decided to take the opportunity to enjoy one of my favorite cajun meals (boiled crawfish) at Acadiana Cafe. I was seated almost immediately and ordered the three pound order of boiled crawfish and was told it would take 30 to 40 minutes as they would have to be prepared as they do not normally get that many requests at lunch for crawfish. I had time to kill so I told my waitress to go ahead and place the order. I had a bowl of gumbo to stave off my hunger pains and to my surprise my crawfish showed up in less than 15 minutes. Once I started eating them it became obvious to me that these particular crawfish were not freshly cooked but tasted more like they had been re-heated (microwaved) from a previous days batch. The entire three pounds were over seasoned, overcooked, and downright disgusting. My waitress is another story, very inattentive (when I asked for additonal napkins it took her almost 15 minutes to bring them to me - only after I asked a second time). I mentioned to my waitress and to the cashier about my dislike for my order and quite honestly their attitude was one of "oh well". Needless to say, when I have the urge for crawfish again or cajun food for that matter, I won't be going to Acadiana Cafe. [17 Jun 2002 17:32:36]

Best Ambiance I went to Acadiana Cafe when I was at AIT at Ft Sam Houston. I still remember to this day that they made all of us feel special and were very attentive. The food was excellent.. crawdads of course!! We had beer and wine and by the time we left, they wheeled me to the door in a wheelbarrow... a little drunk, and well satisfied from the food. It was the closest to New Orleans food that I've had since. I give it my recommendation and will return again. [09 Mar 2003 12:53:37]

cajun It's as close to cajun as I am gonna get living in San Antonio.. I'm not happy about the peanut oil being the only oil they use since a quarter or more of the worlds population is allergic to it. I had to order broiled food < blah> while my roommate indulged in fried catfish. My waitress was friendly but very forgetful I hope she was not the same one that Jimmy had lol. I had to ask for the sides, and remind about the bread. I never got my corn bread I got tired of asking for what I ordered and accepted the biscuit. Wednesdays currently they have a good deal on crawfish. I'm going back to show those crawfish who the boss lady is. I will take no prisoners! The service is decent there, better than most places I have been believe me IIIIIIEEEEEE!!!! [06 Apr 2003 23:37:42]

Cajun Food...NOT!!!! Don't eat here if you know what Cajun food is supposed to taste like. They make good fried stuff, but that's not really Cajun. Most other menu items are as far away from Cajun as one can get. I couldn't even eat 2 of the dishes they were so bad. There is a waitress who is very slow, unfriendly, and forgets stuff a lot...avoid at all costs. [03 Jun 2003 13:29:32]

Poor Service I had gone there for a birthday party for a friend. There was about 20 people there in the party room that they have in the back of the cafe. The party had started at 7:00pm and I had got there about 8:20pm. I thought I was going to be late but was not as late as I thought I was going to be because as I was sitting down people were just getting served their food. As soon as I saw the first waitress I asked her for some tea and I place my order. I asked my friend next to me how long did it take for them to serve the meals and I was told that it took 10 min. So I waited patiently enjoying everyones converstation. Next thing I know its 9:00pm and no food? I asked the waitress on the status of my order and she said she would check for me. She disappeared and did not see her or another waitress until 9:15pm. I asked her a second time about my food and she said "They haven't brought it to you?!?!" No!! At this point I was upset and she again replyed "I'll check on that for you". Well come 9:20pm no word from the waitress or my food. I had to flag the lady down and told her to forget my order...I'm so hungry that I'm not hungry any more. I got up to leave and they had the nerve to charge me for the meal. Just in case you are thinking that 20 people is a lot for one waitress, let me tell you there were at least 4 waitresses there that I saw assisting the party. I suggest to everyone who reads this, to never step foot in Acadiana Cafe at all. I have always wondered why there where hardly any cars outside of this place and now I know why. Yum! Yum! Yum! Acadiana Cafe has the best food I have ever eaten in my entire life. It is true cajun food. One of my favorite things to get there is their deep fried turkey. The service was great and the waiter was very efficient and fast. He was also very friendly. It is definatly some of the best food I have ever had and I strongly recomend it. [20 Nov 2003 10:26:45]

Not REAL cajun I have lived in Louisiana and SE Texas all of my life and grew up on cajun food. THIS IS NOT IT! I took a couple of bites and nearly wretched. Where do they get these cooks from? [16 Apr 2004 09:34:22]
