From hate to love in one bite. If you had asked me how I liked this restaurant at any point up until I lifted fork to mouth, I would not have been pleased. My party had a beast of a time getting seated (granted we were about 9), and the hostess had clearly had a bad night, as she was quite rude. However, once we got past that one person, everything fell right into place. Our server was apologetic and very professional. The decor is very warm and a large bank of windows looks out on San Antonio's famous Riverwalk. The tortilla chips came out in a paper cone set inside a wire spiral. Very visually appealing. Once the food came out, though, all the rest melted away. My entree, tender pork medallions in a spicy/savory ancho chile sauce, was nothing short of incredible. From the looks of it, others at my table were equally impressed. The only one who did not look that way was my mexican food challenged friend who had ordered the cheese enchiladas, and I think it was more jealousy than anything else. In short, definitely a must try place if you venture out to the riverwalk. [12 Mar 2007 10:50:58]

Great place to take visitors on weeknight Have been to Acenar a few times. It's a great place to take visitors. Service can be bad especially on weekends and it's hard to get a table but the food is very good. Great setting on the Riverwalk - not in an overcrowded area. Nice and relaxing after a hot San Antonio day. [03 Apr 2007 13:59:55]
