My Favorite Spot in San Antonio I go here with family all the time, because it's my favorite spot for good food! The atmosphere can be noisy but ask for a booth and you'll be okay. The food is outstanding tex-mex at reasonable prices. Margaritas will do you right! [04 Mar 2002 20:12:12]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: tortilla soup

Consistenly Good Good food, good service, and good frozen margaritas at reasonably low prices. Background noises interfer with conversation sometimes. [04 Mar 2002 21:44:10]

Best Tortilla Soup!! We love this place! They make their own tortillis, we always order some extra to take home! We start every meal with margaritas! This numbs your mouth to prepare you for the most incredible batter dipped and stuffed jalapenos, nobody makes them as mouth-watering as Alamo Cafe! Next is the must have best Tortilla Soup in town! Now, even though you're way too full after stuffing youself with these two entrees, make sure you order at least on beef fajita, cut it up and share it if you have to, because you've never tasted anything like this one! Order your dessert to go because you'll need a wheelbarrow to get you back to your car! We love the Margarita Pie! [04 Nov 2002 12:38:44]

Tex-Mex for gringos Bland, bland, bland. The Alamo Cafe serves Tex-Mex for the gringo palate. Plus it's loud in the place. [21 Dec 2003 00:18:36]

Overrated Very popular in the way McDonald's is popular. Flavorless. Uninspired. Overcrowded. Tortillas are okay, but there are many places with fresh tortillas. Who seeks out a place just for tortillas anyway? Skip this place, unless you are going "to be seen". [09 Mar 2005 12:12:27]

Horrible Mexican Food "Mexican food for Gringos" is exactly what you get. Food is very poor and service is okay. Do not visit Alamo Cafe if you are in the mood for traditional Tex-Mex...Ask a Hispanic to suggest a quality Mexican restaurant. [29 Sep 2005 11:58:11]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Nothing
