You have to order them that way because the chile con carne blows away the chile gravy and it's only $1.50 more.

Best Mex restaurant in the US
The Herbert's Special is what to get, and you'll agree. I have been to Herbert's over 100 times, and always excellent service, and the best mexican food I've ever had. Prices are very inexpensive too, which is a bonus.    [14 Mar 2002 16:59:55]

FLOUR BURRITO DINNER ONE OF A KIND

I have been going to Herbert's Taco Hut for over 20 years. It is the best bar none. Excellent food and hot sauce!
The food and wait staff have not changed over the years either. Still the same great food and staff. I have taken a number of friends and clients to Herbert's over the years and almost all of them have taken their friends there also. They all now are also loyal Herbert's Taco Hut patron's. Alice is the best waitress, but they all are good. Bobby, the son of the late Herbert Sr., is a great guy and excellent owner/manager.    [09 Mar 2003 11:22:21]

Couldn't ask for anything better.....Herberts' Taco Hut!!!
I have been eating at Herbert's Taco Hut since I was about 11 years old. Coming back better California and Texas you can literally see the difference in Mexican Food. I have taken family & friends from all over and they loved the place. The atmosphere of the place and it's employess bring out a sense of I'm eating real Mexican Food. Prices are affordable, very pleasing portions and you get your food in under 10 minutes (even at the busiest times of the day). Props to the kitchen crew and wait staff. Even if the place is packed with locals, students or tourists the seating areas are comfortable and relaxing...you don't get aggrevated, if you know what I mean. Now, all Herbert's Taco Hut needs is a "Great Margarita" drink!!! You know to top off a wonderful meal.    [26 Oct 2005 13:16:57]

I spent more time @ Herbert's than SWT
Every other day during my brief stint at SWTSU I found myself at Herbert's either 1) nursing a hangover or 2) helping someone nurse theirs. That was 25 years ago, when you'd often run into George Strait eating the Herbert's Special. Absolutely the best Mexican food with the best memories. And CHEAP. THE VERY BEST MEXICAN FOOD
We discovered Herbert's taco Hut 7 years ago. My wife doesn't like Mexican food but she loves herbert's. She even eats the hot sauce which she's never done until we went to herberts. TO me there's never been any mexican food this good. Everythingwe've had is excellent. Someday I would like to try their American food but the Mexican food is so darn good I can't stop eating it. We drive 360 miles just to eat there. I wis someday you would put a Herbert's in Midland Tx. Thank you for your great food.
