Good and imaginative burgers - not fast food sleazeburgers
A basic place - wood benches, minimal plastic and chrome. The food is the attraction. Different types of burgers/toppings that are not like any others in the area. It's been here for 20 years (that I know of) so they must be doing something right.    [01 Jun 2002 17:39:43]

One of those great
Tookie's is an unpretentious, warm and friendly burger joint, with lots of atmosphere and good old-fashioned hamburgers with some original touches, great fries and fantastic hand-made onion rings    [13 Sep 2003 15:25:04]

horrible service/bad attitudes
I have been going to Tookie's for almost 10 years. The service has always been slow, but their chocolate Dr. Peppers have always been worth it, until tonight. Five of us went in, but we were charged for 7 hamburgers, 2 of which we did not order. We asked for double meat on two Rookie burgers, and were told that the extra patty should be an additional dollar, just like on the adult burgers. however, our ticket charged us for 4 Rookie burgers. When we called the manager (he turned out to be an assistant manager)over to ask for the problem to be fixed, he had an attitude, and even rolled his eyes at us. After a very long time at the top of my list of favorite places to eat, I was so horrified at this treatment I will never go back, chocolate Dr. Peppers or not. And the restroom was an absolute mess.    [02 Jan 2005 22:33:57]
