Seafood Gumbo Good food, good service, great atmosphere, Barket's is one of the best places to eat. They make a hardy seafood gumbo thick with crab, oyster, and other delicious morsels of seafood delights. [31 Oct 2002 11:34:07]

I love this place! I spent my childhood dining at Barkett's, and it was always an experience to me. Great food, friendly waitresses, comfortable atmosphere. Seadrift is a lovely little (and I do mean little) town, and Barkett's only adds to its greatness. [10 Feb 2004 15:06:01]

this is from an old seadrift resident!!! Hey this is Stephanie green and I enjoyed living so close to barketts restaurant. I would walk by there and there would be a wonderful smell coming from it. The smell would fill the road and would make my mouth water. [31 Mar 2004 16:04:49]

Slept in the bay yesterday fresh From the time of King Barkett to the time of Waymon and Frances Harding, I’ve enjoyed this restaurant for 47 years. If it’s slept in the bay yesterday fresh you’re lookin’ for Barkett’s is the place to be. The restaurants atmosphere is as salty as the breeze outside; you’ll see patrons wearing everything from suits and ties to white rubber boots. When you dine be sure to sample the stuffed jalapenos (the best I’ve ever tasted, don’t expect the gummy cheese kind here), request French dressing on your salad (it’s homemade from King Barkett’s receipt), try one of the following for your entrée, stuffed shrimp (don’t worry if your waitress tells you there’s only three, just be hungry), broiled catch of the day, soft shell crabs or the seafood platter cornucopia. A real baked potato that is always right can be substituted for the usual fries. You can depend that you will always be served by a competent and courteous wait staff. Prices are reasonable and you should never have a wait. Go and enjoy the people, the food, and the small gift shop and if you do go, say hey to Forrest, Amy, Kim and Tiff. P.S. – If you’er not in the mood for seafood give the CFS a try, it’s slathered in “MeMaw” Wheeler’s personal white gravy recipe, Umm umm . . . just like grandma use’ta make. [21 Jan 2006 14:48:48]
