Best BBQ on the Planet!!!
Let me start by saying...I HATE BBQ SAUCE! But we stopped in at Hinze's on the way home from picking our daughter up from Summer Camp, and as always, I orderd my brisket plate with the sauce 'on the side' in case the brisket was so bad it needed sauce. Two great surprises: the brisket was moist, super-tender, and all-round excellent, AND I decided to taste the sauce anyway. Glad I did, because it's like no other BBQ sauce I have seen before or since. The things I dislike about the 'usual' BBQ sauce are the 'vinegary-ness' and the sweetness of most of them. Hinze's is neither! I'm sure they use vinegar and some kind of sweet ingredient like molasses or honey, but they don't overpower their sauce with either of them. What I got was a sauce with body, in the form of tiny but visible bits of tomato and peppers, The flavor, rather than being sweet or tart, was more akin to a smoky salsa than to Kraft or KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce.

For a guy who usually despises BBQ sauce, I ended up actually slopping the occasional bite of my brisket thru the sauce before eating it, and those who know me can attest that this is the ultimate compliment that a BBQ sauce can get from me!

I recommend you stop in at Hinze's when on your way into, or back to Houston from points west. If you know good Barbecue, you won't be disappointed.

Best BBQ in Texas
I used to live in Sealy before Hinze's was around. Now that my family and I live in Katy, we make several trips a month back to Sealy. It's worth it compared to any of the BBQ places around here.

This is a MUST!!!
Whether you are traveling West on I-10 or South on 59 Hinze's is a MUST STOP!!! I have family in San Antonio and a sliced beef sandwich in route has become a part of the trip. Additionally, I do a lot of fishing in Port O'Conner and the Hinze's on 59 in Wharton is always part of the return trip.

I frequently drive from Houston to Sealy only to have an excuse to eat at Hinze's! My favorite combination is a sliced beef sandwich, cole slaw, and coconut meringue pie. Hinze's is my very favorite barbecue restaurant, including those I've been to in Houston. Excellent BBQ
The rule of thumb is to avoid any BBQ place located on/adjacent to a freeway. Ignore that rule WRT Hinze's. Being in a hurry, I ordered a brisket BBQ sandwich from the drive-thru. Great food, Horrible Customer Service!!!!
I live in the city of Sealy and Hinze's Barbeque is well known the taste of their meat. I must admit it's terrific! But Hinze's will never have my service again because of rudeness to black customers. I, a white customer, have witnessed myself how the Manger, not cashiers, have totally disrespected a local elderly black customer. I addressed the Manager with the issue and she told me that she had been the Manager for over 10 years and if I did not like the way she manages the restaurant then I could get the hell out. So I contacted the owners, thinking I would have an apology coming, but instead they backed her up 100% and slammed the phone in my face.
