GREAT PLACE
If you like a good buffet this is the place to go. There is plenty of eat and the wait staff is helpful. They also have a salad bar which will take you breath away. Anyways, its a good place to go.    [18 Feb 2004 11:13:20]

Small town potluck church style eatin'!
Driving back from Rockport, we were searching for a family owned, non-corporate diner-style restaurant to have lunch. Like a mirage in the desert we came across the Butter Churn in Sinton. Folks dressed in their Sunday best parked outside and we entered to a wonderful spread, reminescent of the Baptist church potlucks I used to enjoy in my childhood. I don't usually enjoy 'buffet' style restaurants, since the food seems to all taste the same, and everything seems to rely on oversalting for flavor but this place is an exception to that rule! I had roast chicken (with skin on- what an indulgence and worth it!), carrots, mashed potatoes, awesome STUFFING, salad- well, 'the works!'. We live in San Antonio and are currently planning a trip for the sole purpose of thrift shopping in small towns and eating all our meals at the Butter Churn! Don't miss a chance to eat at this old-fashioned friendly establishment.

Also in Aransas Pass
The reviews above say it all with the addition of the new (2005) location in Aransas Pass on Wheeler. Locals can direct you or follow the mob. Parking lot will be full but they always seem to have the room to seat you and the non-smoking area IS smoke free.    [11 Mar 2006 17:28:30]
