Awesome barbecue
I have eaten @ opie's barbecue three time. The briscuit is cooked cowboy sytle over mesquite timbers. It is so tender, yet firm with a great smokey taste. The sauce is delicious and is a vinegary based sauce flavored with Sirloin stake fat juice. The jalapeno sausage is excellent. The ribs are smokey, tender and meaty as is the chicken. Sides are primarily jalapeno inflected pinto beans. You pick your meat from the rectangular pit, dip it in sauce, bring it inside, and they cut it up and put on butcher paper. Time to chow down. Buy enough to bring left overs home and don't forget the sauce. In the rop 2 or 3 BBQ's I ever ate. Can't wait to go again!!!!!    [23 Sep 2004 17:31:04]

Definitely tops
Opie's is definitely in the top running for Tx BBQ. If you recall Cooper's BBQ in Llano during it's glory days (admittedly, it remains tough to beat!), Opie's is at that peak of quality, variety, and authenticity.    [17 May 2006 15:22:50]

Very good but very expensive! So keep in mind this is splurging big time!
Very nice atmosphere. Exceptional service. Everything is perfect. Food is top of the line perfect. But very expensive! I think it was almost $80 for a family of four to take home food! It was worth it but WOW! That's a lot of money!    [05 Aug 2006 12:50:51]
