Best Corn Dogs Ever Don't expect happy faces and cheery service here. This is a true, small town, fast food joint. With your grumpy, underpaid drive-thru waitress, you won't get a smile, or a Thank You. Just order, pay, and enjoy your very greasy, but yummy food. [07 May 2002 17:34:38]

Best Dixie Dogs Ever I enjoyed the food very much. The Dixie dogs are the best I've ever had. The service was very good, every time I have ordered, they are very kind on the phone to place an order. They were also very friendly, and they always seem to smile. Enjoy your Dixie. P.S. Order a large "Bulldog Blue", they are awesome! [23 Sep 2002 21:08:33]

Dixie Dog is a part of Tahoka's tradition. The food is wonderful and wherever you go nothing can quite compare to the taste of an actual dixie dog. [11 Nov 2002 11:06:37]

A West Texas Tradition Now let me first say that this place has a history. The Dixie Dog in Tahoka dates back to around the late 1940's. It has been serving up Dixie Dogs (a.k.a. corn dogs), cheeseburgers, and Cherry Lime Cokes to thousands over the years. Many a high schooler making the drag in Tahoka has scarfed down a cheeseburger, a steak finger basket, or a famous Dixie Dog. In my opinion, the Dixie Dog's prime years were when Ouida and Elmer Gunnells were the proprietors and Ouida was grilling up the totally awesome cheeseburgers.
The cheeseburgers to this day remain a basic, no-frills burger. No guacamole or mushroom burgers here, just down-to-earth Texas style burgers with all the basic fixings. And of course the Dixie Dogs themselves remain a mainstay on the menu, having changed little over the years. The batter is ample and has a unique flavor with a subtly sweet undertone. For me, one of the simple pleasures of eating at the Dixie Dog is, before you dig into your order, savoring the grease spots coming through the sack. -- No, this ain't health food!
Every time I get back to Tahoka, I make it a point to get to the Dixie Dog to enjoy a cheeseburger and a Dixie Dog . [23 Nov 2002 09:54:54]

Heavenly Fajitas! I love Dixie Dog! My wife & I enjoy the fajitas a lot! The prices are cheap, the food is good, and the drinks are sufficiently large! [04 Dec 2002 02:15:51]

World's Best Dr. Pepper If you've ever lived in Tahoka then you know that you never quite feel you've returned home until you've eaten at the Dixie Dog. And while there is no debating the excellence of their onion rings and corn dogs, the number one reason I return is for their Dr. Pepper. They have discovered the perfect syrup/carbonation mix that together with the small ice cubes makes for a wonderfully refreshing drink. You may add Cherry or Vanilla flavoring to your drink as well. Just remember to keep your cup because refills are half price if you do. So, if you're a Dr. Pepper lover, this is the only place to go and a "must-stop" if you're passing through. home You don't forget trees you climbed as a boy, or gravel drive ways where you hit rocks into the cotton field with a broom stick. What would have the drag been with out the Dixie Dog , I hate to think of that don't you . I haven't had a chance to get back as much as I would like to. July last year I was on a trip with my daugther to Clovis and we stopped at the Dixie Dog .I ordered a cheeseburger for her it was the best one she had ever had, and she eats them almost every meal ( well it seems that way to me ) . I am so glad that it has made its place in our history . Keep on doing what you do [10 Jul 2003 16:57:28]

Dixie Dogs I have been fortunate to live in Tahoka a big portion of my life but I have also lived as many as 4 states away. I always know I'm home when I can have a Dixie Dog. There is no comparison between them and plain corn dogs. Best grease in the world! [14 Sep 2003 23:05:59]

Dixie Dog They have without a doubt the best giant chilli cheeseburgers in the country. I even have my kids hooked on them. We try and get one every time we are in town. [16 Sep 2004 15:47:50]
