A Romantic Hideout for Valentine's Day My darling husband took me on a surprise Valentine's Day weekend to the Big Bend area. We stayed in Terlingua. It is one of our favorite places in the world to be. The scenic beauty is breathtaking to say the least. No trip would be complete without eating at one of Texas's best kept secrets, The Starlight Theatre. We enjoyed two scrumptiously delicious filet mignon dinners which were prepared just the way we ordered. The veggies were also prepared to perfection. We enjoyed the love songs of the light hearted vocal group entertainment, too. The service was fast and courteous but we allowed to eat our meal leisurely while absorbing all the West Texas ambiance provided! [16 Feb 2004 15:47:09]

Worth Stopping Ate here twice in Oct 2005. Loved the enchiladas. Great atmosphere, good drinks and lots of hippies on the front porch. Service was a little slow at times for unknown reasons. Would eat here again. [10 Oct 2005 14:08:49]

Friendly Locals; Fun Conversation; Great Food and Drinks We stopped in the Starlight to have a meal; we found so much more! Great conversations with the friendly locals, park workers, postwoman, and local business owners as well as a paleontologist who lives in the Big Bend area and who rolls his own cigarettes (just plain tobacco - I think). Sitting at the bar is a way to meet folks; and the margaritas are delicious! We met other visitors to the area from all over Texas.
Chad and his staff at the Starlight are awesome; the dining is leisurely - even though the wait sometimes reached two hours - we never felt rushed to move on. We spent three hours there the first night and enjoyed every minute drinking, eating and visiting.
The Starlight is a "must" see and "do" when in the Big Bend Area. It is one of the most unique trips we have ever taken! [18 Mar 2006 11:56:23]
