If you don't like your in-laws, take them here.
If you're looking for a good meal and you see the sign for the Dixie Diner in Texarkana . . . KEEP DRIVING. The mindless zombies that they call waitors couldn't get anything right. My cup had a lipstick lip print from a previous customer and my husband's silverware had stuck-on food. The food was cold and all of the cooked vegetables are fried in lard or cooked with bacon. The portions are generous, but if I had that food in my kitchen I'd try to get rid of it too. Poor quality, bad service, and an insult to southern food.    [23 Apr 2004 23:22:22]

     TruthBeTold

Truth be told must be a competitor that can't come close to the reputation of the Dixie Diner. 25 years of the best down home cooking in the area. Voted #1 place for lunch by the readers of 4 States Magazine. Someone must like them because they have 3 locations in Texarkana and stay packed all the time. They cut all of their meat fresh daily. They use only fresh or frozen vegetables. They use only pure vegetable oil, not lard, and yes they do season their vegetables with salt pork like all great cooks from the south do. They even make their mayonaisse from scratch and that's why their salad dressings are fantastic. For the money you pay for the food, they have the best foodservers in town. Their coffee cups are clean and they even grind their own blend of coffee beans for every pot. Truth be told is an idiot.    [14 Sep 2005 21:04:39]

Good Food, Good Atmosphere
I have eaten at this Diner (and the newer one in Nash, Texas) more times than I can count. The service is sometimes a bit slow but the food is consistently good in my experience. The atmosphere is very southern and very comfortable. I recommend Dixie Diner to those who want good ole-fashioned southern grub.    [05 Jul 2006 12:06:08]
