Wonderful surprise!
This little restaurant is tucked into the "store" part of a gas station a little off the beaten path in Watauga.
The food is lovingly prepared by Chef Merrell and his family, the product of a lifelong dream of owning and operating a restaurant. The story behind the gas station/restaurant setup is a tribute to the ingenuity of someone who was determined to realize his dream.
I had steak with potatoes and mixed veggies. It was prepared to perfection, and I was totally taken with the quality of the food served in light of the atmosphere of a quick-stop.
I am not given to writing reviews, but I was just so impressed with this little place. I have recommended it to all my friends.    [18 Oct 2005 08:56:49]
