Best Tex Mex In Texas. Lived in Dallas for 5 years, haven't found Tex-Mex even close to Casa Loma. [25 Nov 2002 16:52:40]

Worst Tex Mex (If you want to call it that) We've Ever Had My girlfriend and I stayed in Wimberley recently and after reading great reviews about this place on this site and others, could not wait to try this Hill Country "gem". We went on a Saturday night. To begin with, the chips had a very strange taste, not like any other tortilla chips we have ever had before. The salsa tasted very similar to blended canned stewed tomatoes and onions. No big deal, we were looking forward to the outstanding margaritas we had read about! Far from outstanding to say the least. I ordered a frozen house rita, and girlfriend ordered a frozen strawberry rita. Both tasted exactly the same. The ritas were indeed strong, similar to drinking straight tequila. Probably why they both tasted exactly the same. It was like ordering a 12 ounce shot! It was at this point that we started talking about just paying for our drinks, and politely leaving. But, due to time, location and perpetual optimism, we decided to stick it out. Shame on us. We ordered queso and our meals. I had a standard Tex Mex plate with enchiladas, rice and beans, guacamole and a taco, and she had chicken enchiladas. The queso tasted like nacho cheese that you'd get at a little league baseball game. While my guacamole was actually pretty good, the rest was below average. Nothing horrible, but not something I will ever return for. My girlfriend's plate was another story. The chicken in her enchildas was unseasoned, boiled and de-boned, big-chunked chicken. A definate first for us in regards to Tex Mex cuisine! At this point, we just had to laugh, and make the best of an extremely unpleasant meal. We won't be back. [27 Jun 2007 12:46:05]
