Great Food
Great food, fun atmosphere. The hibachi is fun and the food is great. Sushi is wonderful!    [26 Apr 2008 21:32:34]

Decent...but inflexible.
My wife and I were looking for a nice place to celebrate our anniversary and Ninja was recommended to us. We ordered the Dinner Special for Two and were quite entertained at the hibachi grill.

However, we were told we could not substitute the less expensive chicken teriyaki for the beef teriyaki that came with order. Odd...but okay. And, as it turned out the beef teriyaki was quite good!

Unfortunately, the very end of our rather pleasant meal was not so pleasant. We had been told that our dinner special came with ice cream for dessert. Having never eaten at a hibachi restaurant before we wanted to go for the full experience and ordered the tempura ice cream.

We were then informed that our dinner only came with "regular" ice cream and that if we wanted the tempura ice cream we would have to order it separately. Ooookay.

We countered with how about just bringing us one order of tempura ice cream instead of two orders of regular ice cream. Win-Win situation right? We get what we want and the restaurant saves money since the menu value of two orders of regular ice cream was less than one order of tempura ice cream.

Our waiter went back, and sheepishly returned with the news that he was told no and as it was his third day he didn't want to argue with the boss. Well, I was willing to!

So, "the boss" came out and once we explained what we wanted said: "No. We don't make very much money on the special as it is. If you want tempura ice cream you must order it. It's only $3.95...not very much!"

Well, well, well...what a romantic way to end the evening! We offered to pay the difference between the regular ice cream and the tempura ice cream....but again no.

So, bottom line, we got three orders of ice cream brought out to us of which we ate the tempura ice cream...and then we did eat the other ice cream as the tempura ice cream turned out to be very bland and unsatisfying.

Bottom line: We won't be going back there!    [22 May 2008 12:13:05]

Recommended Dishes: Onion soup was tasty. But read the fine print on the menu so you know what you are getting!
