Good food at Goodwood
Goodwood is a large, open restaurant filled with mostly booths. There were some tables for larger groups. It is tastefully decorated with western, but not really cowboy, decor, using lots of wood. There is western music playing.

I had the ribs. The ribs came in baby back pork ribs, St Louis style spare ribs, or West Texas beef ribs. The ribs were outstanding. The tips were slightly dry, but overall very delicious. They were well seasoned with very nice, thick barbecue sauce. The ribs are the most expensive thing on the menu, at $18.99 for a full rack.

The Prime Rib Philly sandwich that we ordered was delicious; thinly sliced prime rib, grilled onion and monterey jack cheese on a toasted roll. It came with a side of whipped horseradish and au jus. It was $8.39.

Side dishes include baked beans, steak fries, creamy coleslaw, or potato salad. Sandwiches include one side dish, barbecue platters include two. Entrees include salad and corn muffins.

My potato salad was as fresh as the kind my grandma would make on easter afternoon. The steak fries were thick, golden brown, and crispy.

The sandwiches and lunch platters make Goodwood more economical for lunch. Sandwiches were around $7-9.

This is not a vegetarian friendly restaurant; there is not a single vegetarian option. There are two salmon dishes and a selection of chicken dishes, mostly salads.

We were there on a weeknight and the service was good. The food was delivered quickly and was hot and fresh.

I recommend Goodwood for a nice, moderately priced restaurant - if you like barbecue meat.    [10 Apr 2007 23:19:18]
