stunning but slipping cuisine.
California yuppie food at its best with an Italian touch. However, quality slipped in 2002 when I went for my annual Osso Bucco. Way too much cheap pepper added in the kitchen. VERY expensive.    [30 Jun 2002 23:19:29]

salt & pepper is the key
After eight visits to Grappa, I think I've figured out why I can't make up my mind if I really like it or not-- salt & pepper. Last time, we noticed there were no salt & pepper shakers on the tables, nor were any brought with the meal. I don't like heavily salted food nor heavily peppered food & Grappa goes way overboard in the kitchen. My wife uses lots of salt, and finds the food generally good, but she also finds too much pepper.
Bottom line-- if you guzzle salt & pepper with your food, you will love it. If your MD told you to avoid salt, stay away.    [02 Aug 2004 09:51:33]
