Frosting on the Cake This is by far the best bakery in Salt Lake City. They did the cake for my father's wedding, and they are always my number one choice for birthday's and special events! Mrs. Backers has the BEST most heavenly frosting in the world! Definitely two thumbs up!
The best part about this bakery is their impeccable presentation. The cakes and goodies that you can get here are so amazingly decorated. [08 Jul 2003 17:16:06]

Mrs. Backers "does bakery" like I remember from my childhood. The cookies and cakes are to die for!
It is easy to see that they only use fresh ingredients in their products here. I give them a 5 star rating. [22 Aug 2003 08:21:57]

Mrs. Backers is Unbelieveable! This is the best bakery by far in Utah -- probably anywhere -- I first learned of them when I moved to Salt lake City in 1985 to work as a nurse at LDS Hospital and one of the nurses I worked with was getting married and I tasted a piece of cake at her shower -- wow that was it for me! I ordered cakes there from then on for every occasion. Not cheap in price but well worth it!
I now live in Seattle, and my first stop off the plane is to Mrs. Backers when I return to Salt Lake once a year. I now have all of my Seattle friends hooked too! [07 Jan 2004 00:28:36]

Mrs.Backer's Pastry Shop The Backer family is so talented when it comes to creating the most delicious and beautiful pastries in the world. I am saddened by the death of Mr. Backer (the owner). The beautiful wedding cakes were decorated by him. In fact, he designed and patented the tool to make the magnificent flowers. He will truly be missed. [30 Sep 2004 17:21:14]

The Best Cake..... Period If you need an EXTRA special cake this is THE place to go in the Salt Lake City area. The texture, flavor of both the cake and the frosting is far beyond anything that can be found at the grocery store or any other bakery I've found. Better still the decorations are always incredibly beautiful and unique to anywhere else.
Be prepared to pay for the difference though. A nine inch two layer "filled" cake will run near forty dollars. I'm usually something of a penny pincher, but their quality and unique excellence makes it well worth the cost. [04 Feb 2005 19:33:16]

Mrs. B's is the Bomb! It's true, Mrs. Backer's Pastry Shop is a Salt Lake City institution. Undeniably the best frosting in town. The quality is consistently excellent. It's family run and you can taste the love. [09 Mar 2006 18:59:48]

At Last ! I was born and raised in Salt Lake City and I'm now 71 years old. As a kid growing up I had heard of Mrs Backers and we went there often for cookies and things.
One of the things that I grew up with in Salt Lake City was Morrison's meat pies and when I moved from Utah to California I found that one of the things I missed was those meat pies (they even had outlets by the high schools, forerunners of the fast food industry,) so I found myself deprived of something I really liked...so, for years I used friends and family to keep me supplied I couldn't even find a mail order place that could get them..so they were always a treat.
I remember once having a half hour stopover on a flight from Seattle to Phoenix (then home) and took a cab to the nearest market and bought there entire inventory (about 30 pies) I was in heaven for a few weeks...well my beloved daughter who lives in Salt Lake City new of my plight and was told by a co-worker about Mrs. Backers meat pies being even better than Morrison's -- she sent me a Fed Ex box of them and last night I ate my first and not my last, Mrs Backers version of the classic meat pie and when I found this web site with a review section I had to write. Best Pastries This place has the best pastries I have ever tasted. Their fudge bears are amazing, as is everything I've ever had there. I will definitely be going there whenever I need anything. They are a little pricey but well worth it! [15 Aug 2007 13:27:39]
