WOW! Incredible! We were invited there by Mike, the owner who is serving as our Real Estate agent. We were just out for the weekend looking at condos and had dinner there with him. At first glance upon arrival, we were doubtful. But inside the beautiful wood and stone gave it a country inn feeling. My wife had the fried chicken and I had the chicken fried steak. Both were totally awesome, as were the mashed potatoes and gravy. The servers were very friendly and I would recommend everyone make the drive and eat there. It is now on our list of places to eat whenever we are in Park City. [02 Mar 2009 20:34:12]

New things are afoot Well it finally looks like things are changing at the Spring Chicken. The new owner has a new partner that actually cares to make some money, and the new head chef has actual standards. The food is greatly improved.
New servers that are polite, and also nice to look at. We will once again make this a regular stop on our ski trips. [14 Jan 2009 00:32:58]

Great Food, Great Service My family stopped at the Spring Chicken Inn on our way back to SLC. They were serving breakfast all day, and we loved the food and service. We think it is worth another hour and half drive to eat there again! [02 Dec 2008 11:57:19]

Weary diner, pleasantly surprised Having heard so many good and bad things about this place. I was weary to go in and try it out. I ride horses nearby, and the location is a little out of the way, but the restaurant is busy none the less.
The Chicken was excellent and the new owner came up and talked to us for a little while. The new menu items look good, and I will be back to try them out. The food took a little longer to reach the inside of my stomach, but that is a price I'm willing to pay for freshly cooked food that is of high quality. No short-cuts in the kitchen here.
I can see how the operation was difficult at best early on for them, but they have gotten on top of their early teething-problems, and I see nothing but a worthwhile place to visit now. [28 Oct 2008 13:49:50]

Very Disappointed Yesterday my boyfriend and I went to the Spring Chicken Inn. We had some friends from Portland, OR with us and bragged about how good the food was. The restaurant was supposed to open at 8:00 A.M. We sat outside for about 20 min and saw no sign of life. The doors were still locked! Finally another customer waiting as well went to an open window and yelled inside to see if anyone was there. One of the cooks yelled back that they couldn't open because they did not have any servers and as soon as they arrived they would open.
Our friends from Portland decided to take off as they were on there way to Denver and needed to get going. We decided to wait since I had been craving the food for sometime. Finally at about 8:40 a server arrived. It took her another 10 min to get the doors opened. No apology or nothing! We ordered out food which came out promptly. Both our dishes were so horrible we couldn't even eat them!! The gravy tasted like it had come from a package and was very watered down. I didn't dare even try the sausage from the looks of it and the potatoes had been cut then left out so long they had turned black then cooked slightly! Our Orange juice tasted like Tang and the coffee just plained sucked!
The only good [item] on my boyfriends plate was the country fried chicken! The waitress' are very rude and do not even thank you for coming in! $25.00 is too much to pay for breakfast that makes Denny's look gourmet! [27 Jul 2008 20:13:47]

recent fan but no longer!
You Can't Please Everyone I have ate here, and yes it does take some time for the chicken to come out. But when it states on the menu chicken is cooked to order, and the place is full it's obvious the chicken might take a extra few minutes. my party, waited a bit longer for our food as well but decided to wait with patience. Caviat Emptor IMPORTANT! READ THIS BEFORE YOU DINE!
For those who enjoy fried chicken, let the experts take care of that for you! 1 1/2 hours later my order came out with French fries sitting in a pool of CHICKEN BLOOD! Fire engine red blood all over the plate! I prompted the waiter to remove the plate. The pig of a manager came up and said that they were too busy and decided to serve raw chicken. She was nice enough to comp the meal for all but, if this place is busy, keep on driving, your stomach will gladly thank you later. [29 Jun 2008 22:48:20]

New Owners Again, What ?! WOW, we just barely made it through the first sale now we have to go through another one how terrible. This guy knows absolutely nothing about cooking or anything close to it. All he knows how to do is B.S. the people into sitting down. He has apparently ran off all the previous good help because it took 45 minutes for us to finally get menus and another 45 to get our food that was way over cooked. This place is slowly DIEING on the vine unless someone with prior knowledge can save it. It is sad to see the old Mom & Pops go down especially this one to someone that doesn't know the restaurant business. [20 Oct 2007 06:02:57]

What CUSTOMER Came First ? I think the people that don't have the GUT'S to sign what they write should go back to bed. Everything that they write and say is obviously LIES or they could have the audacity to sign their name..........
Enuff of that, lets just say that we have frequented this great establishment since Sherdon & Gwen were the owners so back when service was a pleasure and food was a talent. The previous owner did not care about neither. It was rather obvious over the years they didn't care if we or anyone else were there, hours of operation were never an item of concern as the place was closed many times earlier than the posted hours of operation. It appears that several of the same waitresses are still there and they are the ones that always have the FROWNS on their faces and still don't care about friendly service. We always try to avoid those waitresses but for some reason we get stuck with the heavier set gal that is rude and mean, (Shoulder length dark brown hair) she needs some lessons in turning that frown upside down.
Restaurant business is a hard business for anyone as you are always on the wrong end of the stick dealing with starving people that think they deserve to get their food before anyone else.
The new owner has made an honest effort to bring comfort and friendliness back to the place. The food is much more pleasing to the stomach and just observing that the building has been cleaned is worth much more that knowledge of cooking. If you don't have customers to cook for you don't need to cook. Mr Don had his place but it wasn't dealing with the public much less interacting with someone that has a question about the food preparation or something that may have been wrong or a simple suggestion on how to improve, he simply told you where to go and how to get there on no uncertain terms and didn't care who was around when he used the big "F" bomb when young ears were present,....
We disagree with the anonymous people that can't sign their name(s) my husband and I have always assumed that the anonymous writers are none other than close family or friends of the accused anyway.
Good luck to the new owners you are doing a bang up job so far with that was placed on your PLATE, keep going in the same direction and you will for sure be rewarded someday. [25 Jul 2007 18:24:08]
