Best dim sum in DC I've been to Tony Cheng's, Lei Garden and Fortune...and China Garden has them all beat for quality and freshness. [23 Mar 2004 15:19:38]

Great Dim Sum - if you don't see it just ask! I can see why this place draws such a huge crowd on the weekends - the dim sum was great!!!
My wife and I asked the waiter for some other items that we did not see in the cart and they happily brought it out for us.
Most of the items on the dim sum menu are very resaonably priced - around $2.00 a plate. The spareribs in black bean sauce and the shu mei was exceptional. I was a little disappointed with the fried turnip cakes - they were too greasy - but hey, we were only out $2.00 (and that is the beauty of dim sum!)
The only thing that disappointed us was that the carts seemed to always take a right turn before they got to our table - it did get frustrating at times. Fortunately, there were plent of waiters running around to make sure we didn't get too hungry. The next time I am going to insist we get a seat by an aisle!
We had them bring us some shark fin soup. The soup was authentic and amazing - but the price was very steep ($35). [23 Nov 2005 19:48:32]

5 star restaurant, 0 star service I have been to this restaurant several times because it is close to my house. The restaurant provide average food. Last weekend, 4 of my friends went to this China Garden with me. The hostess gave us a table. We sat down and ordered our drinks while waiting another friend to come.
After 4 minutes, when the waiter is serving our drinks and we are going to get the dim sum, the hostess asked us to leave because our friend has not arrived. The lady hostess said "If you need to wait for another person, we cannot serve you". We asked "Why the rest of the party cannot start eating before our friend comes?". She said "Cannot!" This is so ridiculous. It was about 11:30am, the restaurant was just open, and it wasn't even half full and no one was waiting to be served. We got chased out from our seats. I will never go back.
