Great Food and Atmosphere
With it's laid back atmosphere and staff, Griffin Tavern is a great place to relax. While I was there, a good guitarist was playing. The bar has a nice atmosphere and even a Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga machine.

To start, we enjoyed the soup du jour. It was broccoli and cheese, and was a very good soup. The cheese did not overpower and the soup had a very complex taste.

I ordered the BBQ chicken sandwich, which was great. The bacon was crispy and the chicken was well seasoned. The BBQ sauce was home-made and was very good. For $8, I expected a lot and it delivered.

One of my dining companions ordered the BBQ ribs, which were delicious. The meat came right off of the bone and it used the same delicious BBQ sauce.

Another ordered the shrimp and gnocchi dish, which was much better than I expected. You don't find much good pasta out in the boonies of Virigina...

Overall, the atmosphere and the service made Griffin Tavern worth returning to. I give it an A+!    [12 Mar 2006 11:58:55]
