we travel extensively, we are "foodies" and to find this restaurant in Kilmarnock was a shock. The chef seems to be focused on simplicity and unpretentious quality. this place could hold up as an upscale neighborhood bistro in any city. If you're looking for one of those places that dazzles you with plush surroundings and mediocre over priced food, go to any resort or club in the area. Otherwise Swank's, although the name is a bit odd to us, is the place to dine in the northern neck.    [21 Aug 2008 00:32:27]

Great Service
We recently visited Swank's on Main in Kilmarnock and were quite surpised. The blood mary's were delicious and the staff very accommodating. We were new to the area and popped in for lunch on a Sunday to find that they were serving brunch only. After a brief and delightful conversation with the chef he agreed to cook us a non-brunch lunch. He made us a delighful rockfish with spinach and delicate potatoes. The fish was moist and flaky -- cooked expertly the spinach was frehs and flavorful and the chef was utterly charming. We were hooked and make sure we go back every time we come to our weekend place in Coles Point. Worth the drive, definitely!    [10 Feb 2009 10:27:56]
