Description
This is a very small intimate and upscale French restaurant on the corner of route 55 and route 709 between The Plains and Marshall, Virgnia. It is owned and operated by a French Chef. Unlike many restaurants serving French cuisine, the prices here are quite reasonable.
SPECIAL NOTE: The building was once infamous as a run-of-the-mill restaurant that refused service to non-whites, picketted by the NAACP and finally shut down by federal authorities, but those days are long gone. It's been given a complete make-over inside and out in every way. Do not mistake the current establishment for the one that *used* to be here!

Delightful While many people head for nearby Middleburg for an upscale dinner, those in the know come to this wonderful little restaurant. The food is better and the prices lower. Indeed, the French chef and owner demonstrate the attention the French give to their food and their customers.
It not grand and pretentious, but small and casual, where you and the food receive personal attention from both the wait and kitchen staff. Its a rare find, easily overlooked, but not to be missed if you're in the area. [22 May 2006 07:21:21]

Amazing Find My husband and I wandered in late on a Saturday night without reservations. We only needed to wait For 20 minutes or were offered a seat at the bar. We chose to eat at the bar. I had a glass of Italian brut that was reasonably priced and delicious and my husband had a pinot noir also very good and reasonably priced. We started with a Portabello stuffed with bree in a spicy red sauce that was a perfect contrast to the cheese and mushroom. This was an absolute taste sensation for the palate. We realized at this point we were in for an extraordinary treat. I had duck which was cooked to perfection with a fruit sauce, rice with a wonderful nutty flavor and baby green beans. My husband had a large serving of salmon with a wonderful champagne sauce, spinach with its own sauce which was delicious, and these crispy/ tender green beans that were full of flavor. The portions were perfect. My husband had a Napolean for dessert and I had a creme brulee. I am very fussy about my creme brulee, but this was the authentic custard kind....magnificent. We will be coming back! [25 Mar 2007 21:21:02]

Fine Upscale, yet Family Friendly! We were out and about with my dad who was visiting from Florida. My family enjoys going out to new places, dressing up and experiencing good food and good restaurants... but today, we were all in our T-shirts and shorts, my husband, 8 and 11 year old daughters, my dad and myself. We were definitely out of place in the dress department, but the staff treated us as hospitably as the uppity patrons around us. The owner stopped by the table to check on us, himself dressed in shorts and shirts, clearly busy working the dirty jobs... It was a refreshing stop and a surprising discovery we just happened upon in our search for a bite to eat between activities. We all want to return, my 8 year old thinks the burger was the best she has ever had, my dad and I were each compelled to eat the entire generous portion of the daily special, a tuna entree both of us had selected. Very nice, place, one we will add to our favorites list. [26 Aug 2007 10:12:15]
