Throughout the years I have kept comming back over and over just to find new and interested items in the menu from traditional Italian cooking to new innovative recipes and found it's quality always consistent and inexpensive, Owner operator Renato is always there to anticipate your needs treating you with utmost care and respect.    [07 May 2001 13:28:59]

A hidden gem in McLean
Cafe' Oggi is a hidden gem -- a small, quiet, restaurant with impeccably fresh and well-prepared italian food. Refined yet comfortable, elegant but not overpriced or overbearing, this is the kind of place where you could see becoming a regular, if you could afford it.    [18 Jun 2003 10:15:24]

Not Too Hot
Ate there with my wife. Neither of us liked the food or the service. Both of us felt a little ill after dinner.    [01 Aug 2003 14:41:48]

Don't waste your time. . .
If you're looking for the ambience of a strip mall and enjoy being treated like dirt from the wait staff, this is the place for you!

We have a confirmed reservation and left this miserable excuse for a restaurant after being seated for more than 30 minutes. The server brought us nothing but glasses of tap water and major attitude-- never saw the menu and never received an apology for the restaurant's obvious error with our reservation!!

Restaurants are in business to SERVE their patrons; not the other way around. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place unless you are into self-tor    [20 May 2004 08:07:17]

It is what it is
I was invited by some friends to dine here last night. Was a bit cautious, after reading the reviews here and at checkbook.org. On the positive side, the room is visually excellent, and the service staff was most efficient, if a bit stiff. I ordered one of the pasta specials of the evening, which was very good. Not magical, but nice. Also had the minestrone, which was OK. Room was busy but not too loud to allow the 6 of us to have a nice evening chat.

And there it is.    [03 Oct 2004 12:34:16]

I have known the people who own this lovely little restaurant for many years and every time I dine here I am always pleasantly surprised. The food is top notch and reasonably priced. The waiters are friendly and attentive,- many having worked here for several years--a good sign. They now have a beautiful private room that they do not charge for and they bend over backwards to please you. The chef is quite skilled in every type of meat, chicken and fish and will accommodate your special needs with a smile. I would highly recommend this restaurant to the most discriminating diner.    [06 Jan 2005 19:52:27]

$ 9 for a glas house wine with a $9 salad!
My friend and I had a lovely lunch until the bill came. We each had a salad and a glas of white wine, a coffee and an espresso. Did not see a wine list, just asked for the house wine. With tip the total was $56. We were charged $9 for the house wine! The food was excellent, the service was poor; our waitress was clearly in a hurry to take our order and have us leave. We did not feel welcome, more of a nuisance.
I will not go back there since I feel taken being charged that much for wine. Not recommended    [20 Jan 2006 11:39:19]

Wonderful Dining Experience
I absolutely love this restaurant. The wait service is excellent. I come from a city with a extreme high percentage of Italians and grew up with Italian cooking. This is the best of the best. Pasta, sauces and meats prepared & cooked to perfection. And the ambiance! What more could you ask. Worth every nickel.    [06 May 2006 18:55:17]

Excellent food but apalling service
As a son of a fully italian family, I can attest that the quality of the food is excellent and truly italian. However, while I have dined there on several occasions due to the quality of the food, I was starting to get increasingly annoyed with the waiters and the service. In my last visit, after ignoring me for about 15 minutes after I arrived leaving me without water or bread, they just went completely overboard when they tried to convince me that a chocolate ice-cream was a chocolate pear they had in the menu as I had ordered in an amazingly rude fashion. I will never go again because no food quality will ever compensate such tremendously apalling service and the incompetence of waiters. This is not the treatment you expect in a quality italian restaurant of a moderate price. I feel sorry for the owner, Renato, who is a gentleman. I just hope he realizes that with the current service he will at some point loose his business. Unfortunately, I will have to miss the food    [10 Jun 2006 11:30:01]
