Home away from Greece Finally, found a decent Greek restaurant in the DC area. A very pleasant oasis in downtown McLean. Large restaurant. Small outside area on the street. Bright and airy inside.
The food was absolutely wonderful. Four of us tried four different appetizers and four differnet entrees. Not a bad one in the bunch.
Service was exceptional, though I think we got the owner - a very pleasant woman from Athens who beamed when I thanked her in Greek.
Wine list is brief but very inexpensive. We mostly drank the house wines (red, white and retsina). All of them were quite pleasant.
Menu was good sized and varied. Appetizers were a tad expensive, but entrees were not. Limited, traditional desserts available. [09 Jun 2002 12:52:16]

Great Food! Having passed this small greek taverna in McLean several times, my husband and father decided to try it. The bread that they gave you to start was fresh and tasted great dipped in the herb olive oil. We tried the hummus and tzatziki. Both excellent on the fresh, warm pita. My husband had the lamb and orzo special which melted in your mouth. My dad and I had the sampler which included Pastitsio, Moussaka, dolmathia with meat, spanikopita, and green beans with tomatoes. For Dessert, we had the rice pudding and the galaktoboureko (custard filled Phyllo. Everything was excellent! The check came to about 30/person with coffee and sodas, so not too bad. Amazing Food I love the greek Taverna. I have been going there for a while now. The appetizers are so fresh tasting and delicious. The main dishes were so delectible I would have to go to Greece just to get one of the same quality. [14 Sep 2007 18:08:56]
