Best Sushi in the DC Area Nice place. Full of Japanese - a good sign. Try to go for lunch - much cheaper. All in all, very nice. [31 Jul 2003 17:39:14]

Worth a visit Our first visit but already made good impression! Not cheap but very good beef, good suchi and very good service; traditional salad was ok. [10 Dec 2003 20:37:19]

Great Overall Experience I've visited this restaurant over a dozen times, all for dinner. It's been consistently good in terms of food quality and service. Pricey, but worth the money. [08 Mar 2004 22:08:14]

Probably the best sushi & sashimi in No Va Tachibana is probably the best Japanese restaurant in Washington D.C. metro area. Not cheap, but sashimi quality is consistent and toro (fatty tuna) is usually available. You can't find toro in other japanese restaurants. There are several sushi chefs who prepare sushi and sashimi, so size of the sushi and sashimi very at times though. Friday and Saturday evenings are usually good day to go (i.e., sashimi pieces are bigger and fresher). [26 Dec 2004 16:58:31]

Best in the area. Not best in the world. Tachibana is just about everything you'd want in a sushi restaurant. - Comfortable dining room - Lots of seats at the multiple sushi bars - Exceedingly friendly service - Impeccably fresh fish, generously sliced - Always some interesting specials - High volume (always fresh) - Kid friendly (not pretentious) - Parking
I don't think Tachibana would be anything special by New York standards (don't expect either the huge slices of a Tomoe or the nouveau preparations of a Nobu), but relatively speaking, Washington is not a huge sushi town. For consistency, quality, & friendliness Tachibana stands above most.
Kaz and Sushi Ko are also good choices; but for a special occasion sushi experience, Makoto is truly "the bom [04 Mar 2005 09:07:23]

Simply the best. Without a doubt the best Japanese restaurant that I have come across in the D.C. area. In my book, this place win the award for: * best sashimi * largest portions * freshest portions * best presentation * largest number of polite, smiling Japanese waitresses.
Prices are quite reasonable. At lunch they are more so. [06 Nov 2005 13:34:40]

Excellent, Authentic Japanese Food Everything wonderful in Japanese food. Just moved here from Japan. Thank goodness there are some authentic Japanese restaurants here in the Washington D.C. area. Most claim that but they are not. [08 Mar 2007 15:47:13]

Best in VA...not in DC metro area Tachibana is by far the best Japanese restaurant in Virginia. However, Sushi Taro in Dupont would take the crown for the best in DC metro area! [21 Apr 2007 10:56:12]
