Don't bother The food was not what we were atticipating. Out of 5 people only one person had no complaints with their meal, if you don't include the salad. All was over-priced for the portions. The hamburger was charred (burnt), the seafood was greasy and soggy. There was no bread of any kind served with the meal. If you want a good meal don't bother going to the Crab Shack. Best Ever The freshest seafood I have had since my own mother made it for me. Rockfish was mouth watering. Our server was a smiling waitress that made us laugh and had a bubbly attitude. You could tell she had a few other tables but was spending adequate time with each one. She actually engaged in some type of conversations with each one. The sunset was unbelievable. Only wish it was warm enough to eat outside. We will be back next week!! [23 Jan 2006 13:46:31]

horrible Fish was very fishy tasting and smelly (we had both rockfish and tilapia). The crab was very hard to eat since it had so many pieces of shell in it, every bite had shell in it (2 different meals) [12 Feb 2006 18:23:38]

Husband took our kids and I for Valentine's day and had an enjoyable time. Snow crab legs (although they are frozen) were actually pretty good. Husband had crab-stuffed fish which was also pretty good (although there were the small pieces of shell in the crab meat everyone could do without). The calamari was not bad at all either as an appetizer- do ask for cocktail sauce to go with them. The service from our server was excellent- very friendly and courtious. Overall a good time and will visit again in the summer to sit out on the porch and have some blue crabs [16 Feb 2006 07:52:07]

wonderful I live in DC but I was visiting my fiance there in Newport News and he took me to the Crab Shack for dinner one evening. I love calamari and I have never tasted calamari as delicious as the calamari I had that day at the Crab Shack. In DC we have lots of fine dining and I have visited most but no one can touch the calamari I had that day. My fiance had fried oysters and I do not like oysters. I tried them and again, they were, to my suprise, very good. I have not eaten calamari since I returned home because I know nothing here can compare. We also had fried shrimp again superb. I give crab shack thumbs up and 5 stars. I can't wait to get back there. We are planning to elope this summer and this is now OUR restaurant. Ooh yeah the waitress, very friendly [08 Jun 2006 23:04:38]

Outstanding I love seafood, I grew up in NY and we made trips many times a year to Maine, Rockport and Gloucester, Mass for seafood. This place was recommended by the hotel I was at and it was simply the best. The atmosphere was excellent, service was very good and the food was excellent. I had the crab cakes and steamers, my wife had fish and steamers and it was excellent even the cole slaw was perfect. Simply put, the best crab cakes I have ever eaten in my life. I have sampled crab cakes all over the Chesapeake Bay region and these top them all easily. We went back the very next day of our trip for lunch. We are coming back this September and I can't wait [31 Jul 2006 23:07:19]
